The Detective

Naomi's head jerked up with a start as she caught sight of a man leisurely strolling into the room, his presence filling the space with an unexpected gravity. Before she could gather her thoughts, his smoothly polished voice cut through the subdued hum of the room, addressing her in a tone that carried a subtle air of authority. "Why hello, miss Naomi," he began, his words measured and purposeful. "I am here today to ask you a few questions," he continued, his gaze unwaveringly fixed on her, "and in the interest of ensuring transparency and honesty, we have a few devices that we will need to connect to you." With a fluid motion, he produced a set of intricate-looking devices and placed them gently on the table in front of her, the array of wires and lights casting an ominous shadow across the otherwise serene room.

As if sensing her hesitation, he smoothly pushed forward a piece of paper, its stark white surface marred only by the bold print that adorned it. "This is a standard contract that we need you to sign," he explained, his voice soothing yet insistent. "The faster we can get this paperwork out of the way, the sooner you will be able to proceed with your flight arrangements and receive your belongings." The pen, slender and elegant, lay poised next to the sheet of paper, its tip glinting in the soft ambient light of the room.
