Chapter 101

What Next?

The Couples Meet Up For Dinner

A few hours past, the cabin finally quiet as everyone mostly stayed out of each other's way. Madison, having heard Heather and Brandon's fantasy roleplay, stuck close to Lisa unsure of what to do or if she should say anything to her brother. The two girls chose to leave the cabin itself and get some air down by the lake, Lisa prayed that she wouldn't come back to a **** scene as she left. This left Brandon to pack while Ashley laid down and Heather watched over Kurt. Seeing as the four of their friends were now out of the picture again Victoria and Gavin got to talking, "This...sucks, right? I'm not the only one thinking it." Gavin blankly asked Victoria; the two had been sitting in mostly silence in the kitchen ever since the encounter in the den,

"Which 'this' are you referring too?" Victoria asked as she pushed her fingers through her hair, slicking it back, "We've had a few 'this' over the week,"

"The war were having with Kurt and Ashley," Gavin merely replied as he shook his head, "It's got me so tense and amped up,"

"I know, I can't even imagine what Chloe and Zack are feeling." Victoria agreed, "Even if Zack got to beat up Kurt and tell Ashley off, I'm sure it didn't help."

"And now they're stuck in their room," Gavin added on, nearly bitter, "They didn't do anything wrong, they shouldn't be punished,"

Victoria gave a small shake of her head, "I don't know if that's really them being punished, Gav. I think that was for the best, got them away from Ashley and Kurt."

Gavin, still looking unconvinced by Victoria's words, pulled out his phone and checked the time, "It's getting close to five...almost dinner time."

"Seriously?" Victoria asked with a scoff, "Jesus, this day has been a fucking waste, all we got to do is fight and sit." Gavin nodded in agreement while Victoria leaned back and crossed her arms, thinking for a moment, "You know what, fuck that, I'm not gonna have the only thing to happen today be bad. Why don't you get some hotdogs out and take them to the grill, I'm getting Zack and Chloe."

Gavin started to let out a smile, "Yeah, that sounds like fun, just the four of us." He agreed while getting up and walking to the fridge as Victoria quickly left the room.

While this was happening Zack and Chloe continued to lay in their bed, the two exhausted teens had fallen asleep for a few hours and woke up only thirty minutes ago. Neither knew what to say to each other, everything that was going so well for them seemed to hit a wall as soon as things went wrong. Now they were only stuck with their thoughts and small fears about the other. Zack pushed himself up and let out a wince from applying pressure on his hand, Chloe instantly jumped up, "Are you okay?" She asked while taking his bandaged hand, "How bad?" She added on, her voice full of concern,

Zack softly smiled back at her, "It's okay, Chloe, it's not that bad. I just need to remember to take it easy with this hand."

Chloe silently continued to hold his hand, inspecting it, seeing the bandages that had just a hint of pink on them from Zack's blood. His hand felt too large in her hand, "Zack...maybe I should get you some ice, this is still swollen." Chloe pointed out while she lightly traced a finger over it,

Zack readjusted himself, so he was facing Chloe, and brought his other hand to her shoulder, "Hey, I don't want you worrying about me, I'm fine," Zack assured her,

"Are you?" Chloe shot back, her eyes looking almost fearful, "Zack, you beat Kurt up today, learned some of the worst things about Ashley and...and you almost broke up with me." Zack lowered his head, shutting his eyes in shame as she mentioned the breakup, "I don't know what's going through your head anymore, I don't know where you are." Chloe explained,

"I'm sorry for that," Zack murmured back, "You're right, I've had a lot on my mind today, and haven't been able to just...put it all in its place." He admitted, "But, the same goes for you Chloe, you went through so much, not even today, you've been dealing with bullshit since day two of the fucking trip! How are you dealing?"

"Honestly..." Chloe said with a long sigh, "You're the only reason I'm keeping it together," She softly admitted, "I feel safe as long as you're here with me, and that helps with Kurt and Ashley. I'm just...I don't...It's you leaving that's got me scared, now." Chloe explained as she hung her head, her eyes welling up slightly,

"Chloe," Zack softly whispered back, "I told you, I wasn't gonna leave." Chloe looked back up at him, her eyes showing clear disbelief in his words, "The things I said...I wasn't thinking right, I was freaked out and worried about you. I just thought...maybe I could protect you better if I wasn't there to cause problems." Chloe bottom lip trembled slightly, "But that was stupid!" Zack quickly followed up with, "You want to know where I am? I'm right here, Chloe, I'm with you."

Chloe felt a smile return to her face, though a few tears fell as well. Zack moved his hand to her face, resting it on her cheek while wiping her eye with his thumb. Chloe nuzzled her head into Zack's hold on her before quickly leaning forward and giving him a profoundly deep kiss. Zack kissed back fully, shutting his eyes as he felt Chloe's arms wrap around his back, squeezing him tight. Chloe shifted her weight, starting to push on Zack, forcing him to fall flat on the bed. Chloe didn't straddle Zack, she merely rolled to the side, laying down with him as their lips remained locked in a never-ending kiss.

Zack was a bit concerned; he didn't imagine in any way that Chloe would want to try anything sexual today, or even tomorrow for that matter. Despite his concerns, he did notice that Chloe didn't seem nervous or scared in the slightest, her body was rock steady, and her kissing remained very confident, still, Zack was hesitant to move forward. Just then Zack heard their door handle jiggle a few times causing Chloe to pull away from Zack, staring at the door while her face turned a bit pale.

Zack sat up and looked between Chloe and the door a few times before he heard a tiny knock, "Guys, it's Vicky," Victoria said through the wooden door, "If you're feeling up to it, Gavin and I are making dinner, it'd just be us four." She quickly explained, "Up to you two though, just wanted to offer." Victoria tacked on before walking away from the door causing Chloe to let out a slow sigh; Zack could catch that it did come off a bit broken and shakey towards the end,

"That, um, that sounds like a good idea. We haven't eaten all day." Chloe said while Zack stared at her curiously as she got off the bed, "What do you think?"

"Sounds fine..." Zack slowly agreed, his eyes following her step for step, "You locked our door?" He finally asked, his face now perplexed,

"Oh," Chloe replied while readjusting her clothing, "Um, yeah...I just figured...I was just tired of people always walking in on us,"

Zack easily could tell that wasn't the real reason, her lie was thinly veiled, making him only worry more, "Chloe, are you sure you're alright?" He asked again as he watched her walk over and taking Zack's baggy hoodie, putting it on over her shirt,

"Yeah, totally," She said with a smile and a nod,

"Really? You're wearing my hoodie...it's like eighty out," Zack replied as he got off the bed,

"I think it makes me look cute," Chloe easily replied while grinning at him, "Plus, it smells like you, I love that."

Zack internally fought with himself, unsure if he should press her for the truth, after a moment he sighed and decided just to leave it. He didn't want to pressure her anymore today; she didn't need that, "Okay, but when you start sweating can you take it off? I do like that one," Zack **** a joke causing Chloe to giggle back to him softly,

"I don't know, I'll think about it," Chloe replied with a toss of her eyes while she walked towards the bedroom door and unlocked it. Zack walked up behind her and waited for a moment to follow her out but only saw her step to the side, "Uh...after you," Chloe said with a weak smile, causing Zack's worry to return,

"Right..." Zack softly agreed as he opened the door, stepping out first. He looked around, seeing no one in the hallway or the den. He let out a very quiet exhale to himself, before reaching his hand into the room for Chloe, "C'mon, let's eat." He said, forcing a chipper tone to return,

"Yeah, I wonder what Gavin and Vicky are making," Chloe agreed as she tightly squeezed his hand, following him to the kitchen quickly.
