The Cloaking Device
It was a simple design really, but revolutionary. Dr Jessica Adams checked that the device around her neck was working correctly, then wrapped herself in her robe and walked into the board room.
After many years, Dr Adams had finally created a cloaking device. Wearing just the tiny unit which looked like a simple necklace, all the user had to do was flick the switch and their skin would act like a prism, bending light around the body rendering them completely invisible. Of course, it did mean you had to be naked, but in time a unit which would work on cloth could be developed. Interestingly, so far it only worked when Jessica used it. Although she could still see her own skin whilst using the device, her colleagues in the lab would inform her that she had vanished, and she would often walk around naked and invisible all day.
Jessica explained the theory of her invention to the leaders of the company, and then it was time for the practical demonstration. She flicked the switch on her necklace and dropped the robe to the floor, standing before the room of very powerful executives completely naked, and totally invisible.
Looking around at her audience, some of them looked shocked, some of them smiled, some leaned closer, clearly unable to believe their eyes. Jessica placed her hands on her hips and smiled, pleased with herself.
