The Canon (less fun) Ending

When Ravonna was left, the chamber was empty for a long few seconds. Then there was a ripple by the wall; two figures, invisible moments before, returned to view. One was blonde, sighing with relief - the other, near her, was a man with longer, dark hair. He wore dark shades and green, looking with entertained bewilderment at the space where a portal had just been.

“That was… quite something,” he said, eventually.

The blonde ignored him, moving forwards. She glanced around the room, making sure there was no trace of Ravonna.

Somehow she wasn’t surprised that the TVA had lied. It was what they did. Everyone, Ava, Yelena, enemies and friends alike all wiped from existence because they didn’t exist in ‘the right way.’ Sylvie grimaced.

“You had a bit too much fun creating a naked illusion of me,” Sylvie said, eventually. “That’s kinda weird, you do know that?”

“You streaked into my quarters, tried to break into my wardrobe, then told me some trans-temporal agency was trying to kill you and asked for help,” Loki said. “You’re talking to me about weird?”

Sylvie paused. Well, his illusions had helped, both in hiding her and letting the TVA think they’d won. Hopefully that would give her some brief respite.

Then she looked down at herself. Dark colors and green, and a half-horned golden crown; hopefully Asgardian-wrought clothing would be a little sturdier. At least she felt like she had something that was hers.

“Fair enough,” Sylvie said. She paused. “You’re… not as bad as I thought you’d be.”

“Thanks, I think?” Loki said.

“You don’t exactly get a good impression of the guy that steals your life,” Sylvie said. She regarded him, then shrugged. “Let’s see. Someone will need to lay a reset charge, I can get them, and get a TemPad. Enchant them to act like nothing happened, and get away…”

Her voice trailed off thoughtfully. At least she had a better idea of what she was fighting.

If one TemPad had let her cause chaos with the Ultrons, maybe more would be a good plan? Draw guards out, and focus on getting through to the Timekeepers. Put an end to them.

And don’t work with anyone. She told herself that, firmly - no more using or creating variants, not anymore. That wasn’t worth it.

The other Loki looked at her, evidently bewildered, but some semblance of self-preservation keeping him from intervening. Sylvie smiled to herself.

Finally, it was time to begin.
