The Café
What should she do next?
She could run away.
She could hide.
Or she could just keep walking and pretend that walking naked along the boardwalk was perfectly normal.
For some reason, the last option seemed like the most sensible one.
So she squared her shoulders, tried to look nonchalant, and continued along the boardwalk.
No one freaked out. No one pointed out that she was naked. Everyone just looked at her feet.
Why is everyone here obsessed with my shoes?
Then she spotted the café.
Coffee, she thought. I desperately need coffee. Maybe that’ll help me make sense of all this.
She went inside.
The waitress looked up.
“A table for one?”
Megan nodded.
“Great. This way.”

Megan sat down.
The waitress handed her a menu.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Sure.” The waitress smiled.
“You can see that I’m naked, right?”
The waitress looked slightly confused.
“Yes, of course.”
Megan leaned back.
“Then why isn’t anyone freaking out?”
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
Megan stared at her. When no further explanation came, she slowly looked around the café.
What the hell is going on here?
