Chapter 2 by nectar nectar

To Stacie's

The Book

When you arrived at Stacie's, she let you in, but kept you at the door, clearly distraught and feeling guilty.

"I found the book after one of the comments she made. The whole dinner we had been talking about sex. Everyone there was in an amorous mood, no wonder," Stacie shrugged, "and she said that any modern version of the Kama Sutra was missing all of the interesting parts. She seemed so confident, so knowledgeable. I just had a feeling that she knew exactly what she was talking about."

Stacie continued, "Toward the end of the night she said she was a connoisseur of big dicks." Stacie gave me a half smile, "It had gotten pretty raunchy by then. Anyways, I thought she was cute and charming, and certainly well read, so I thought I would do you a favor, and I told her about your particular gifts. I'm sorry John."

"But, how do you know she's a succubus? I didn't think you believed in that sort of thing." you asked.

"She said a few things that night that struck me as unusual. Weird details about historical events. I didn't clock it as meaning much, but then someone asked her about Theo, who I guess is how she knew everyone else, and there was a moment of panic on her face. I think I was the only one who noticed, she was so quick to mask it, but I tried to get a hold of Theo the next day, and no one had seen him for weeks. I dug a little deeper, and his friends said he disappeared when he started dating this new girl, and then they described Kavita exactly, but they called her Aditi. That's when I knew something was going on."

"Wow. I take it you haven't heard from Theo?" you asked.

"No. No one has. I called in a favor from a rare book dealer we work with sometimes at the museum, and was able to get a rare old copy of the Kama Sutra. When I opened it up, I was stunned. There were a couple images that were exactly what she had described at dinner. I asked the book dealer how many copies of this book existed, and he said it must be one of a half dozen, and the only one not in a private collection. Anyways, I could only translate bits and pieces, but I know someone, Anton, he's in Germany, he's an expert in Sanskrit and is a specialist in cross cultural demonic lore. He'll be able to understand this better than I can. Don't call him, take the book to him. She's powerful John, and smart, and...I think she likes it when you run...but I don't know what else you can do."

And so you left on a flight that night out the country.
