Tell me why
"Hello in there." Jen called out. "Is it okay if we come in?"
After a few seconds a deep male voice replied. "Yes. Please, come in."
She-Hulk shared a look with Storm and Captain Marvel. She gave a nod of approval and lead the way into the classroom.
Once everyone was inside She-Hulk looked around and found that they were in a pretty regular classroom. Filled with school kids and one school teacher. The only thing that stood out was the handsome 18 year old who was sitting alone in the middle of the classroom. Everyone else in the room was up against one of the walls and staring at the handsome 18 year old in the center of the room.
Jen took a second to parse what was odd to her eye. The fact that everyone in the room was pretty or handsome or down right beautiful. It was like the class was made up of 20 something models and actors like a TV show or soap opera. The teacher looked like she could be on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. Also the fact that no one was scared. They were giving the kid a wide berth but no one seemed afraid. Most seemed... oddly disinterested or distracted. Like they were ignoring the 18 year old in the middle of the classroom.
"Hey." The kid in the center of the room said and gave her a small wave of his hand.
"Hello." She-Hulk waved back and gave the kids up against the wall a wave as well.
"We are here to help." Storm announced in her regal way.
"I didn't mean to do anything." The 18 year old rushed out and put his hands on his chest, "Please believe me. I'm telling the truth. I tried to make everything the way it was."
Captain Marvel patted the air with her hands, "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Easy, kid. Easy."
"We are here to help." Storm stepped forward. "We often make mistakes when we first use our powers. As long as no one is greviously harmed there is no mistake we cannot move past."
The 18 year old slouched in relief. He gave them all a weak smile. "Thank you. Thank you for understanding. I didnt mean to do anything. I didnt even know I could do anything!"
"Why dont you start by telling me what happened?" She-Hulk asked. "Start with your name."
The boy gave a laugh, "Right. Well, uh, I'm Dave. David Antosh. And, um, what happened was I was taking the test. Felt like I was going to fail it. Which would mean I was going to screw up getting into college. And this... this headache started, like just the most excruciating pain behind my eyes.... I thought I was going to die." he put his hands over his eyes.
"Go on, David." Storm encouraged.
"And then it felt like my head exploded. Like there was lightning shooting out of my eyes." David flung out his hands to illustrate what he had felt, then waved his hands around. "And then the world kinda... uh, blew up?"
"We kind saw the after effects if that out in the hall." Captain Marvel pointed a thumb over her shoulder.
"We also saw you repair the damage." Storm looked from David to Captain Marvel.
David bobbed his head. "I tried to make it better. Tried to fix it."
"What happened after the world blew up?" She-Hulk asked, redirecting the conversation.
"Uh, when it stopped I just... sat there and zoned out?" David half asked half told them. "I just..." he waved a hand in front of his face, "blue screened."
She-Hulk looked at the other people in the room and wondered why they all looked just the littlest bit off. "And then?"
"Well, when i kinda woke up..." David swallowed, "The, uh, the room was, uhm, exploded?"
The three heroines all made the same inquiring noise. Captain Marvel finally asked, "What do you mean by exploded?"
David hung his head and ran his hands thru his hair. "Just... like a bomb had gone off."
"And your classmates?" Jen asked.
David shivered. His voice was barely a whisper as he answered, "They were exploded too."
The three heroines shared a look as they looked at the other people in the room. Despite the zoned out look they all looked to be in perfect shape. No injuries, no wounds, nothing that would indicate they came to harm. Storm gave the other two a nod of her head and slowly approached the young teen. Going to one knee to be eye level with the teen she put her hand on his shoulder.
"David, then what happened?"
"I wanted everyone to get better. I wanted it all to go away. I wanted it to be like it was. Better than it was." The kid rambled fast. "I was freaking. I was so freaked out. And then... like the feeling in my head came back." David put his hands to his head, "I could feel it. And i freaked harder. I was begging. Begging for it to go back. To make it better. To make them better." He pointed to his classmates.
"And then?" Storm asked.
"It happened again. But not like an explosion... more like... like air leaving a ballon. Like just the power didn't explode out of me this time, it rushed out super fast." David frowned and shook his head. "I dont know if that makes sense or not. But it felt like that."
David sat up a little straighter and looked around, "Then it stopped. And when it stopped everyone was, well, themselves again. " he squinted and scratched his head, "Kinda. I think."
"Did all the girls look this pretty before?" She-Hulk asked, looking at the high school kids in the classroom who could double as models.
David flushed and looked down. "M-maybe. I might, uh, I might have over corrected when I fixed everyone." He looked up, "But it's better than everyone being blown up into several pieces. And i really dont know how I did what I did."
"Easy, David, easy." Storm rubbed his shoulder, "You did the right thing by setting things to right. I doubt few will complain about a certain change to their appearance when compared to their eminent deaths."
"No one died. I made sure of it. Everyone's still alive and all their wounds are gone." He said with conviction.
"Why are they all...." She-Hulk waved at the weirdly compliant school kids. "Zoned out?"
"Uhm, they all, uh, freaked out when they got better." David hunched in on himself. "Everyone was screaming and shouting and my headache came back and it was getting bad and Greg got up and threatened me." He pointed to one of the larger boys in the room. "So I, uh, I kinda snapped and just told everyone to fuck off, shut up and leave me alone and wait for someone to come and check up on us."
"And did you again feel the power in your head?" Storm inquired.
David bobbed his head. "Yeah. Kinda. But... different. Like not as strong this time. More like the second time then the first time. Not like an explosion, more like air leaving a balloon again. It was more like a fart... like a brain fart?" David said unsure of his explanation.
The three women shared a bemused look. She-Hulk nodded her head. "A super powered brain fart. Okay. If thats what it was, thats what it was. And then?"
"Uh. We kinda waited til you guys came. Quietly. No body said nothing to each other. All of us silently hoping nothing else happened until someone could save us." David said and looked at the three heroines hopefully.
"Well, that's what we're here to do, Dave." Captain Marvel gave him a winning smile. "We're going to make sure everything goes right from here on out. So you guys have nothing to be afraid of. Okay?"
"Okay." David sagged back in his chair as Storm once again gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "That sounds great."
She-Hulk shared a look with Captain Marvel beside her and Storm over by the kid. Now came the hard part. Figuring out how to handle the fall out of this event.
Now what
