Taking Action

Across the room from the two lovebirds stood Dave, as he did, silently observing. He didn’t remember growing up a jealous person, always celebrating the accomplishments of his friends, the accolades they received, the lives they were living. But now, watching Amber cuddled up on the couch with Jonathan, HIS Jonathan, he couldn’t help it.

He wanted everything that she had.

It had been weeks since Dave had realized his feelings. Weeks of self-doubt. Weeks I’d questioning life choices. Weeks of change. If Amber was what Jonathan wanted, then maybe Dave would have to become her.

Dave shook his head. No, he had a plan for all of that. He would soon meet with his doctor and convince him he needed help. Some of that was beyond what he could do alone, but medicine had advanced. There would be an answer there.

His ears were pierced, he never left his bedroom without his face fully made up, and his wardrobe had completely transformed. While that had been pricy, it had been worth it. Amber had been generous enough to allow him over to her apartment to see what clothes she had, something Jonathan had encouraged her to do. Dave had taken furious notes, bought, to the best of his abilities, exactly what she had but on his size. Jonathan had even mentioned she she should text Dave her outfit choices so Dave could copy, something she was more than happy to do. The two of them looked great, in Dave’s opinion, in their matching crop tops and miniskirts. Jonathan had even complimented Dave’s legs, setting off butterflies in Dave’s stomach that he still felt.

He’d even dropped out of school to become more appealing! Amber wasn’t in school, she had no time for university degrees. No, Amber was a hairstylist, and so that would be good enough for Dave. Besides, schooling for becoming a stylist was cheaper, and the money he was saving on textbooks alone was enough to help him with his new wardrobe.

Amber sighed, her head on Jonathan’s shoulder, her hand slowly rubbing the bulge in her boyfriend’s jeans. Dave had seen it so many times. Soon her hand would be in those jeans, and soon that head would be off that shoulder and in Jonathan’s lap.
