Deciding not to take advantage of the slime (yet), Gordon rushes to the city in time to get his reward for the commission and use it to heal the slime. Gordon then felt his gloves and clothes melt a lot quicker, realising that he probably shouldn't let it burn his clothes off, putting it down, getting it some bread, and giving it a kiss. Slimes are a cluster of nerves in gooey form. They don't feel pain, but they know if they're in danger and where they need to attack by feeling to such an extent that they can see with X-ray vision. As for the core, it's essentially their life essence; it guides the evolution of the slime and is more like the emotional part of a person's brain, not so much the critical thinking part, hence why demon lords and tamers can control them while they attack humans and other such creatures on sight. The slime recognised that it was in a dying and **** state and that Gordon was there before and after it was healed, but it didn't have the knowledge or understanding of "helping" something or someone. To the slime, Gordon was like the mozzie that sat with you when you were injured and after you got out of surgery but didn't bite you or suck your blood.

When Gordon gave it love, attention, and care, the mentality was the same, but the lack of pain and acts of niceness was understood and received. When Gordon then dropped it off where he found it, the slime finally got the understanding that Gordon was there to help, and did. Once it understood that, the slime stuck to Gordon and didn't want to let go, climbing up his back without hurting him or melting his clothes as it sat on his shoulder, getting a positive response from Gordon, who nuzzled it and named it Peach, for its pink hue.
