Take emergency contraceptive

You're relieved to find yourself remembering to take some emergency contraceptive before heading to bed. Pregnancy is not something you're ready for, so you'd better be safe than sorry. Inseminated by some random porn star, it'd become pretty hard to determine who the father would even be at this rate. The sheer thought of the trouble you'd be in is enough to make you shiver involuntarily, and you quickly head to the bathroom to grab the box with emergency contraceptives from the shelf underneath your mirror.

As you fully open the packaging, you bitterly notice that there aren't even that many pills in the strip. These won't last you another week, and they weren't that cheap either. You briefly glance at the label of the box as you open it, reading about potential side effects. On the whole, these contraceptives seems pretty safe, but not as reliable as birth control methods like IUD or the actual 'pill'. It also states that frequent use can cause your periods to become irregular and unpredictable, which you realize might cause additional concern of having become pregnant.

While these act great in an emergency, they just aren't really meant to be taken on a day-to-day basis. And with the sudden increase in your sexual activity, you're aware that it might be prudent to switch to a more reliable form of birth control if you want to continue this line of work. Starting with the pill would probably be a lot more reliable, but would probably also have a wide range of side-effects, including potential mood-swings you weren't particularly looking forward to. Still, anything was better than getting pregnant.

You decide to think it over another day, but for tonight the emergency contraceptive would have to do. You take the pill from its packaging and swallow it down with a gulp of water from the sink.
