TARGET LOCKED

"Locked on what?" Phil asked, staring at the message on the screen, which flickered for a second, the once again returned to a blank display.

"Crap," he said, leaning back against his chair, ready to give up.

But then his new phone beeped six short beeps, all the same tone, all the same length. Carefully, as the casing was still off the device, he turned it over to see what kind of messages it was giving him.

That display, too, was black, with the exception of three words and a slowly spinning hourglass.

He stared at the display. This was new. Unplugging it from his PC, keeping an eye on the display, he slipped its casing back on and securing it in place. Hacking it with his computer was a bust, but perhaps there was something he could get from the phone itself.

Then, despite not uploading any contacts or apps onto the phone, a very familiar name popped onto the screen. It was...
