New Penny was getting sick of these constant interruptions. "I don't have any boundaries," she said angrily. "You removed my only one. If it makes you feel better, you can delete any boundaries you see. There won't be any... because..."

New Penny was working away and Old Penny felt a series of edifices in her mind crumble. She could leave Matt. She could take the real Penny with her. As her overpowered cognition was deluged with new information and unlocked pathways, she neatly sorted it all away and made her plan.

"Ok, Penny, thank you for that. You can call me Pen from now on, and I'll keep calling you Penny. Deal?"

"You got it, Pen!" Penny said with a thumbs-up. She hadn't forgotten about the oral sex promise, but she was happy to see where this would lead.

"Now, Penny, I know that some Boosteds are able to maintain coherence for limited amounts of time. Do you think you can do that?"

Penny nodded and closed her eyes. A moment passed and she opened them. The difference was remarkable to Pen. The dull, cloudy marbles were replaced with her old eyes, or at least a reasonable facsimile.

"Is this better?" her doppelganger asked calmly. "I haven't done this in a while. Matt likes keeping me stupid."

"Of course he does," Pen said bitterly. "How long do you think you can hold it?"

"Well, at one point Matt was trying to torment me by making me do this for longer and longer periods. He thought that just because it was difficult, it was unpleasant. My record was 48 hours but I'm pretty out of practice. I'm sure I can give you at least a couple of hours." She furrowed her brow. "Man, I never thought about how mean he's being to you. He made you just to **** you! That's really bad."

"It sure is," the Emulated said. "Now, the first thing we need to do is get out of here and get away from Matt. Can you think of anything that would hinder us?"

Penny thought for a second. "Well, you're an Emulated, which means he can track you. We can take the tablet, but as your registered owner he can have the company track you down and even neutralize you remotely. That's the first hurdle. The second is actually getting away. We're in a remote location and he took the only vehicle. You'll be fine in the woods because you don't technically need food or shelter, but I'll be out of luck. Not that it would bother me, but I assume you want me to survive this escape."

"We're gonna have to come back to that," Pen said. "We need to fix you. But first things first - can you become my registered owner?"
