Chapter 967 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Stroll through town.

It's still a strange thought to consider this a town, but it mostly is. People live and work here. As you and Eva continue to walk together, she speaks up again, though you don't catch her words at first. They were strangely quiet. You stop walking and turn curiously, but she's already stopped.

"Hey uhm, Kyle..."

"What's wrong?" you ask.

"Can I ask for some advice? I don't really know what to do. Something is coming up fast, and I'm getting really anxious about it."

"Yeah. What's coming up?"

"Well, as you might know, I'm almost 10th level now. You know what that means, right?"

"Ah yeah. Elite classes. I guess I'm the only one who reached that, and I don't get one. Well, beside Nyllia of course. I wasn't really thinking about it. I guess you'll all have to decide on one, but I don't even know what they are in the first place."

"Mages have probably the most, and it's very overwhelming. My dad is a pyromancer. I bet he'd want me to go that path, but I don't know. So many other mages seem to know exactly what they want. Artificers, transmuters, conjurers... but all this time, I've been dabbling in so many kinds of spells. Some of them aren't even mine. They come from that magic star. So what am I, Kyle?"

"Oh wow. That's a hard question."

"S-Sorry. I know it'd be even harder for you than me to decide. I just--"

"Relax!" comes the suddenly voice of Niki. "You'll figure it out, Eva. Don't worry. You always do."

"Oh hi!" Eva says with a wave.

The sunheart gives the two of you a thumbs-up. "I've actually been thinking about this a bunch, as you'd guess. Warriors have quite a few too, though it's more simple for us probably. We don't exactly get spells after all."

I forgot how long it takes for a normal adventurer to level up. Even these girls are doing it faster than most. It's taken this long and they're not even 9th level yet, at least as far as I know, which makes sense given we haven't been exactly adventuring non-stop like we used to do, and I take different people with me every time I travel out. You ponder to yourself as the two of them speak with one another. I reckon it's the biggest decision anyone with a class ever has to make. I didn't even think about how that'd start affecting them. Amara seemed to calm. I wonder if she already has it figured out. I wouldn't be surprised.

"Hey, Kyle," Niki grabs your attention. "So it's my turn for a date, right?"

"Don't be so bold about it!" Eva exclaims.

Why did this become a whole thing immediately? I thought we were just gonna take it easy for awhile, not have date after date. Not that I'm complaining. "Uh. Sure?" you ask as you nervously turn your gaze back to Eva.

She rolls her eyes and laughs. "It's okay, Kyle. It just caught me off guard at first. I don't mind at all. Plus, nothing will beat how special this morning was."

"Is that a competition I smell?" Niki asks.

"No. It's flowers," Eva replies.
