Stopping briefly

Stone and Roberts reached the top of the road and crouched down behind a bus stop bench, their bodies slightly sweaty and pressed against each other in the sparse cover.

"Which way?" Stone panted.

"It's basically a straight line." Roberts replied, catching her breath, "Basically."

"Basically?"

"There's a couple of turns, but I'm sure we haven't reached them yet."

"How sure?"

"Like... 80%."

"That's not very..."

Stone ducked her head down as she saw a bus approaching. Roberts tried to get even smaller and the two of them huddled together behind the bench, waiting while the vehicle pulled up and they heard the hiss of a door opening.

"Oh god..." Roberts whispered.

"Ssh!" Stone hissed back at her. They could hear voices from only a few feet away, just the wooden bench between them and total exposure. The girls did not dare to look and see how big the gaps were between the slats of the bench, they just hoped they were sufficient.

If they had looked, they would have realised their cover was not as good as they hoped. As it was, they did not realise until they heard laughter, and the noise of camera phones.

Stone's head jerked up, and she saw the two girls were surrounded by onlookers.

"Er... hi." she put a fake smile on her face, "We were just... er... I've got nothing. Can I borrow this?" she snatched up a newspaper someone had left on the bench, "Thank you!"

Stone opened up the paper and held it over her front, managing more of less to cover everything important on that side of her, although her back was still completely bare, and fully visible as she scrambled to her feet and ran off down the street.

"Oh, crap." Roberts groaned, she had been underneath Stone and so was slower to get up. She held her hands over her breasts and crotch and looked around, blushing furiously, "Anyone else got a newspaper? No? Figures."

And with that, she also turned and fled.
