What's next?
Step one: Riches!
'I can do anything... I can change anything, I can have anything.' You think to yourself with an almost unsettling amount of clarity. You should probably be in shock, and instead your mind is running a mile a minute to make sure it knows the first half dozen alterations you'll be making to the world. Case in point, you waste no time leaning forward and typing your next entry.
{ I am a millionaire, and don't owe taxes or anything as a result of the money I now have. }
It feels like the entire world around you shudders, then your phone dings. Your eyebrows shoot up as you read the notification: Wire Transfer of $1,000,000. Reason: Inheritance/Will. Immediately, you fear that it was a monkey's paw after all, and quickly end up on an hour-long facebook crawl to make sure that nobody you know, love, or care about is dead. When you find nothing, it's reassuring, but you still right click and edit the entry.
{ I am a millionaire, and don't own taxes or anything as a result of the money I now have. The world sees it as an inheritance, but nobody has actually died for me to have it. }
Is there really any way for you to know if this little edit even worked? No, not really. But it makes you feel better mentally to know you did it.
Checking your bank account nearly makes you pass out. The full million dollar wire transfer is real, added onto the scattering of savings you have from old unspent allowances and your summer jobs. It made the couple thousand dollars you'd managed to scrape together feel like nothing when they were previously a shining achievement of your hard work... but, you shrugged. You could lose out on a perceived victory for permanent financial ease.
'If there's any one thing I know for sure though? I cannot tell anyone about this money, even my parents.' Money changes people, and you don't want to see friends or family turn feral on you just because you have some money now. It gives you something to think about during the subsequent call to the bank to split your account off of your parents' before they can see your cash.
Maybe it'd be smart to never tell anyone about the program, either. Sure, it'd be nice to have someone in your life to share this power with, but is there anyone you can well and truly say wouldn't have some chance of abusing it? Heck, you know that you aren't immune to that - you literally just spawned in one million dollars for yourself...
'I guess I don't have to think about this just yet, and if push comes to shove I can just... I don't know. Tell them that knowing the secret is conditional on me using the program to make them not abuse it or something... but, uh, eugh... maybe I don't want to step on free will that much..?'
There's a knock on your door, cutting off your train of thought. Who's at the door?
