Stay in Sophie and try to let her in control later

After thinking about it for a while, I decided against possessing someone else for the time being and to try what I thought about with Sophie. If it worked, I could stay close to her that way, and without having to steal someone else's life…*

I sighed. If she doesn't mind me staying, of course… I would understand if she doesn’t want me to stay inside of her, even if she loves me…

The teacher speaking broke me out of my thoughts. Let's focus on school for now…

After class ended, I went to the cafeteria. I saw Andrea sitting at a table near the wall, waving at me, and I smiled at her. Andrea was a friend of both me and Sophie. We met her when we started high school. We weren't particularly close, but we liked hanging out together from time to time."

As I walked closer and sat in front of her, I tried to immerse myself into Sophie's persona. I was slightly anxious at being discovered, even if I knew that it was most likely impossible.

"Hi Andrea. How are you?"

She shrugged. "Same old, same old. Axel is trying to flirt with me despite me clearly saying that I'm not interested. He could be almost cute if it weren't for his snobbish personality."

Axel was the previous student council president, who was replaced by Airi, and was known for being a ‘ladies’ man’. He now served as the treasurer of the student council.

Andrea sighed as she grabbed a bite from her sandwich, making an adorable pout. "Ah… I'm so not looking forward to this afternoon's council meeting..." She then chuckled. "But at least, with Airi, I don't have to worry about being hit on constantly.”

I couldn't help but laugh at the thought of Airi flirting with a girl. "Hehe, considering her views on Queer stuff, I can't imagine her ever trying."

"By the way, where's Ben? You're usually both glued together, so it's rare to see you alone."

I closed my eyes and wondered whether or not I should tell her that I ‘disappeared’. After a moment, I decided to tell her. She would have learned about it sooner or later anyway.

"Ben... didn't come home last night..."

She almost dropped her sandwich as she heard me. "W-what?"

Sighing, I continued. "His aunt called my sister this morning to tell her that."

"H-have you tried calling him?"

I nodded weakly. "Y-yeah, but he doesn't answer..."

"I... I hope he'll be found soon..." She awkwardly said.

I tried to smile weakly. "I'm... sure he's alright."

"Y-yeah... Ben is a... strong guy."

"H-he is strong, y-yeah..." I felt awkward complimenting myself like that. Was it narcissism?

Lunch ended and, after a few more classes, I left the school and walked back to Sophie's house.

I breathed a sigh of relief as I managed to perfectly imitate Sophie throughout the day, even feeling a bit of excitement at that. But, alongside this excitement, there was a bit of guilt mixed with fear. Fear at my powers, making me able to so easily steal the life of someone else should I ever want to do that. And the guilt of being a burden to Sophie, should I manage to share her body with her like I had planned.

I tried to get rid of those thoughts, focusing on the task ahead. When I arrived, Jane wasn't there, so I went directly to Sophie's room. I changed into something more comfortable, Sophie's favourite clothes, and was ready to practice.

I closed the door and turned off Sophie's phone, to be able to fully concentrate. “Okay, let's focus on trying to grant Sophie control of her body back. I'm certain that I can do it..."

In fact, I wasn't so certain, but I did my best to convince myself otherwise.

I sat down and focused. I tried to feel my body inside of hers and partially disconnect myself from her brain, but without leaving her body.
