How do you want to proceed with her?
Stay calm and let her know you are not her enemy
“Hey, calm down, miss,” you try to calm the bunny, “I’m not going to hurt you. I’m not a wild wolf. My name is Gray and I live in the village close by. Do you want me to take you there? There are other furries. And Humans.”
“You … you are … there is a village close by?” the rabbit woman asks and dares to look up in your eyes, “you … you live there? You will not hurt or eat me?”
“No, miss, I only eat meat from real animals,” you tell her calm and give your best not to look disappointed or threatening, “I will let you go now, please don’t just run away. The forest is big and it is easy to get lost.”
The rabbit woman nods and you let her go. She stumbles the first to steps away, but stays put and looks at you. You look at her too. She is kind of cute. She is at least a head smaller than you, has completely white fur and green eyes. Despite this, she is quite slender and has nice curves. Just perfectly big for her size.
You can see the symbol on her clothes now clearly. It is from the >Keepers of the Holy Light<. An order of knights, priests and mages who worship the six gods who are seen as good. Their mission is to protect the followers of their gods and the holy places, as well as fight the users of dark magic, servants of evil gods and daemon worshippers. In fact, the church you grew up in is also a minor part of the order.
They are quite influential over several kingdoms, which has been helpful in the past. When two kingdoms were at war, the order could negotiate and offer a save place for refugees, at least to dome degree. However, they can also be seen very controversial. There are several stories about Keepers who took their roles as fighters against evil much too serious, including ****, abduction, murderer and arson. And there also are rumors about some shady deals with nobles, but you don’t know how much of this is true.
After a moment to breath and get over the shock, you notice that the rabbit woman is not hurt but still a little shaken. And she seems uncomfortable. She stares at the ground and doesn’t look you in the eyes. You are not sure if it is out of fear or shame towards you.
“May I ask who you are?” you ask friendly, “and what are you doing here. It is fine if you don’t want to tell me or if it is a secret.”
“No, no, it’s alright,” the woman answers quickly and takes a deep breath, “my name is Jackie. As you probably noticed, I’m from the Keepers of the Holy Light. In fact, I’m one of it’s mages. And … well I’m indeed on a mission … but I … got lost in the forest. This was about an hour ago. D-don’t get me wrong! This happened on none of my … previous missions. But … well, this is my first solo mission for the order. And this is kind of embarrassing.”
“If it helps you, I can show you the way out of the forest,” you offer, “as a hunter, I spend much of my time here. The next village from here is Green Meadow Valley. It’s small but maybe it can help you to find your way. And there is a church, if you need a place to rest.”
“My goal is close to White Hill Village,” Jackie answers and pulls a map out of a fanny bag at her side, “it should be in the mountains close by.”
“Ah, I know this village,” you say, “it’s not far. Half a day walking. Our merchant sometimes trades crops and berries for their salt and ore. I can show you the way.”
“Oh, that’s … well that’s fantastic, but I could never accept this,” Jackie replies, “the order trusted me with this mission and ensured me that it would requires a solid magical knowledge. I can’t risk putting anybody else in danger. This would dishonor me, my oaths and my superiors. Despite this, I already own you a lot. I just can’t ask for anything more.”
“You own me nothing,” you reply, “it would have been my job to take care of such lousy bandits anyway. Speaking of them, they seemed to be not too dangerous. And you had a remarkable amount of trouble with them. I’m sorry if this offends you, but you can’t deny it is true.”
“I’m not proud about this,” Jackie mumbles grumpy, “but … well, they took me by surprise. And it is not easy to cast a spell with a knife at my throat. It will not happen again. If you just point at the right direction, I can take care of the rest.”
You are not so sure about this. You don’t know much about magic, but even if Jackie is a very talented mage, you are not sure she can take care of all of this by herself. She is neither very strong nor very well equipped for anything else but magic. And her sense of direction is questionable. You can see that she hesitates and it is clear to you, that she would consider your help as very helpful. But her sense of honor and a little shame prevent her from asking for it.
Do you push her into accepting your help?
