Somebody comes to see me at my locker

I just need to switch one book out for my last class of the day.

When I close my locker door, Justin is leaning up against the nearby lockers. He gives me a smile.

“Hey Maddie.” He says.

“What’s up?” I ask. I’m already starting to blush.

“Oh, I was around and I thought I’d say Hi.” He tells me. “Can I walk you to class?”

“Sure!” I tell him.

We start off, and I lead him towards my last class. We don’t talk a lot but look at each other from time to time.

I feel the back of his hand brush against mine. It makes me tingle inside and I reach my palm around his hand to face his. He grabs my hand and holds it tightly. I’m delighted. His grip is strong and tight.

“You’re pretty cute.” He tells me.

If I was holding back at all, I definitely can’t now. My face floods with heat. My heart flutters.

“Thank you!” I say sweetly before squeaking out “You’re pretty cute too.”

We stop by the doorway of my classroom.

“So, could I maybe…” he begins.

Here it comes. My heart sinks because I know what is happening, and I know what I’ll have to tell him.

“Could I maybe have your Snapchat? I’d like to talk to you some.” He asks me.

“I don’t have a Snapchat.” I tell him with a sigh. “My dad won’t let me.”

“What about your number?” He asks.

“He goes through my texts every night.” I say, defeated. I can sense his disappointment.

“Instagram?” He asks hopefully.

I shake my head sadly.

“Well, uh, that sucks.” He says.

“It’s not you!” I tell him desperately. “I still really want to talk to you. I think you’re a really nice guy!”

“Alright.” He says. “Maybe your dad will come around sometime. I’ll see you later.”
