Some ground rules.

Heather immediately realized her mistake. If she and Janet started converting people without being smart, it could result in a full prison lockdown and potential quarantine. She looked Janet in her dark hazel eyes. "Janet?"

"Mmhmm?" Janet was still smiling and swaying slightly.

"Please do not tell anyone about this. We shouldn't reveal what we can do until we know people are ready to know about it."

"Of course." Janet said, and Heather realized she didn't need to provide any explanations. The woman would follow her instructions blindly.

"Also, do not use your new power on anyone unless I specifically tell you to." Janet nodded her acquiescence.

"And Janet, um, I'm sorry if this isn't what you wanted."

Janet drew a deep breath, and Heather's eyes were drawn down the smooth skin of her neck to the slim curves her uniform hid. Janet's saw her looking, and chuckled lightly. "Heather, this is exactly what I've always wanted. I've never felt so good in my life. This-" she gestured around her "-isn't a prison anymore, because this-" she tapped her temple "-isn't. I'm not sorry you did this to me, I just can't wait until we bring more people into the light."

Heather swallowed. This was starting to sound kind like a cult. "But don't you miss who you were?"

Janet reached out and clasped her hand, causing her heart rate to spike. "I still am who I was, Heather. It's like all of the things that were really me were locked behind a door, and you opened the door and set them free. I'm more myself than I've ever been. Again, thank you so much for this gift you've given me."

Heather realized that neither woman had broken eye contact for the length of the conversation. Looking into Janet's eyes, she saw a peace, a joy, even a love that she had never seen in another. She drew a breath.
