Chapter 6

Is Laura going to do as her mother says, or does the basement still beckon?
Sleep now. The basement can wait.
Laura yawned despite herself, and decided that this being one of those rare occasions where her mother was actually right, it would be wrong not to take her advice. After all, it wasn't like her great aunt's mysterious basement of probable ancient weird porno was going anywhere. And so she shuffled upstairs, where after discovering that Lucy had installed herself in what appeared to be the nicest bedroom, with a neat bed and comfy mattress and its own en suite, and attempting to acquire it by screaming, she was **** to accept a dingy room with bad Victorian watercolors that looked like they'd been painted by a young woman suffering from terminal depression, grungy walls with hideous yellow wallpaper, and a gigantic heavily curtained bed that looked like it belonged on a Hollywood sound set. After reaching as much acceptance of this ordeal as she possibly could, Laura got into her pajamas, and slid into the bed, while praying there weren't any spiders, or any other creepy things in it.
As the bed managed this bare minimum of comfort, she was able to get some sleep, even if the mattress was rather hard.
Shall our doughty heroine have uneventful night's sleep?
