Shelf discovery

Lena's hands continued to tremble as she saw a picture on the end table close to the door. She lifted the picture to take a closer look as it was black and white. The picture was quite dark, but the young girl was clearly visible, kneeling on the floor, just as the chain which ran from her neck to the hand of the dark figure on the right side of the picture. The figure stood with its back to the photographer and it was not even possible to tell whether the dark figure was a man or a woman. The dark figure in the photograph didn't seem to be important enough to the photographer, even if its presence made the picture complete.

The young kneeling woman was wearing a dark, probably black dress. She wasn't looking into the camera either, and only the profile of her face was visible. As Lena's hands trembled yet again, she was sure that it had to be Sandra in the picture. Actually, it wouldn't have been a special picture if it hadn't been for the hand with the chain. The chain that went to the neck of the young woman, Sandra, and seemed to end there, attached to a collar.

As Lena held the picture with trembling hands, she couldn't take her eyes off of the young woman that was kneeling, presumably Sandra. "That doesn't really suit Sandra at all," Lena thought as she continued staring at the picture.

She knew Sandra as a self-determined, strong, young woman, who didn't let anything or anyone take the butter off her bread. Lost in thought, Lena turned the picture over and was startled when she discovered a handwritten website and a sequence of letters on the back, probably a password. Lena hesitated for a moment, but then she put the picture upside down on the table and took a picture of the back with her cell phone. Only then did she put the picture back on the end table where she found it.

Lena looked around thoughtfully and began to search the living room for clues as to how Sandra could be connected to the mysterious house. Apart from the strange picture she found, no further clues were discovered in the living room. Lena stopped in front of the bedroom door. "Should I really? I mean that would be a blatant breach of trust, wouldn't it?" she mused.
