She is captured

Unfortunately for Valerie, running barefoot in forest proved to be very difficult and painful. After a short while, she stepped on something sharp, feeling a sudden spike of pain in the sole of her foot. She lost her balance, falling down in a tangled heap.

Her left foot was red with blood. She saw the soldiers approach, their weapons trained on her. Realizing she couldn't possibly hope to flee, she sat up and put her arms in the air.

Soon, two soldiers appeared, their weapons trained on her. "I surrender!", she screamed, hoping they understood her. One of the soldiers walked up to her, binding her hands and legs as another continued to point his gun at her.

Once she was sufficiently restrained, he stuffed her mouth with a gag, and put a cloth bag over her head. Everything went dark as Valerie felt herself getting picked up and slung over someone's shoulder.

She felt movement as the soldiers began to walk. Still losing blood, she passed out not too long after.
