Dixie writes in her notebook about a necklace that can control people's minds.

She goes to her new job, where she was hired to clean Ashley and her husband Mark's house.

As Dixie began to methodically dust the living room, Ashley walked into the room, a cup of coffee in one hand and her phone in the other. She cleared her throat to get Mark's attention, who was sitting on the couch, scrolling through his laptop. "Honey, I wanted to remind you that our new maid, Dixie, started today," Ashley said, nodding discreetly towards Dixie, who was now wiping down the coffee table. As Mark closed his laptop, the screen's glow faded from his face, and he stood up from the couch, his eyes briefly meeting Dixie's before shifting to Ashley. "I'm heading out," he said, his deep voice a low rumble in the morning quiet. Ashley nodded, not looking up from her phone, and murmured a distracted "okay, see you later." Mark walked out of the living room, his footsteps quiet on the plush carpet, and Dixie listened as he collected his things and left the house, the sound of the front door closing behind him a subtle signal that she was now alone with Ashley.
