The outcasts have Atara restrained and are preparing to interrogate her.

It doesn’t take Lux long to overhear the sound of voices echoing down the passageway. She creeps toward the source of the sound, finally coming upon a door that has been left ajar. She pauses to listen.

“Awake now, old woman?” she hears a man’s voice say – possibly one of those she overheard earlier, but it’s hard to be sure. “Remember us, don’t you?”

“Radan and Avin,” Atara says. “You two were in line to be exiled even before the uprising – and for good reason. If you think I’ll let you near any of the other women, you’re very mistaken.”

“You should be a little bit more worried about yourself,” another man’s voice says. “We’re going to go get some things, and we’ll see how talkative you can be…”

Lux hears heavy footsteps moving away. She eases the door open and, seeing that the coast is clear, she slips into the room.

Atara is seated in a heavy metal chair at the edge of the room. Lux can see that she is heavily shackled, and has a collar of her own around her neck. She seems to be largely unharmed, though, and she looks up as Lux quietly approaches her.

“Just go, girl,” she hisses. “They’ll be back any moment.”
