Chapter 29 by Verdant_Hatchling Verdant_Hatchling

What’d she say?

She didn’t back down.

“Even if I were to be your hundredth wife, I would gladly accept, so please, accept me, and take me with you to your world.” She stopped, closing her eyes, as a momentary vision clouded her eyes, before she continued, a shaky smile finding its way onto her face, as she opened her eyes, “Your second world. Add me to your second life, and let me accompany you through it.”

The Council was shocked silent, but Damon was staring into her eyes, deep into her soul, though he wasn’t actually capable of that. Yet, he added.

Damon’s cold exterior broke, and he went to grab Lorelai, her body falling gently upon his titanic hands, and he sat her upon a chair he formed of blood to keep her comfortable, as he spoke, “I, Damon Steel, accept you as my wife. My sixth. I think.” And as he finished saying this, a notification appeared.

And before the eyes of the Council, a blinding light flashed, and when it receded, they were shocked, and concerned, as the duo were completely gone.

When said duo arrived at the grand tree, as Lorelai saw it, she was quite shocked. “You live within an Everweeping Willow, and an Ancient Primal Spirit of one, at that.” As she finished speaking, her eyes closed, and as she reached to grab the railing of the porch, to communicate with the tree, it moved swiftly, leading an unaware Lorelai to nearly plummet over a hundred feet.

But Damon grabbed her, gently bringing her safely into an embrace, leaving him to glare at the Willow, where an apparition of a feminine figure fluttered through the branches of the tree.

As he looked back towards Lorelai, she was blushing tremendously, and hugging him tightly, though really just the hand he picked her up with.

As Damon was sitting there, he started actually looking through the rewards he’d gained.

And as he looked, he was ecstatic at the unexpected bonuses, which were for the skills he’d majorly used for the quest’s completion. But he used skills the first time?

Oh well. He was more glad it let Lorelai come through, so Damon, completely happy with his gifts, then accepted two of the legendary Artifact Draws.

An as Damon saw his rewards, he was confused, though happy, what did he need five of the Belts for?

But then, after a moment of consideration, Damon opened a portal, and had Elgy walk through it, scaring Lorelai for a moment, before she realized he was Damon’s pet.

As Damon had Elgy walk up to him, he brought one of the Belts out, and made it into a collar for him.

Damon began to fasten the Belt on the first neck of Elgy’s, and before he could try to put the rest on, more Belts apparated on his other necks, so luckily, he didn’t need to use the other ones yet.

And as the singular Belt suddenly became many collars for Elgy, his already massive form, was doubled in size, strength and durability, as well. Easily comparable to the Platinum Dragon Damon had nearly forgotten about, already.

The porch upon the tree began to bend, before Damon opened a portal beneath Elgy, dropping him comfortably upon his favorite gold pile, falling asleep nearly the instant he laid down.

And as he thought further about the Belts, he remembered the egg he’d all but forgotten about, as well.

As he brought out the egg from his inventory, he found its shell was a silvery tone of white. The exterior consisted of a wide set of dense scales, an intricate pattern frozen upon it.

But as he held it within his grasp, the absurdly, sturdy shell began to crack. As Damon started to freak out over it, he quickly realized it was ready to hatch. But how? It’d been in stasis in his inventory since he’d gotten it, and subsequently, forgotten it.

But, oh well, that didn’t matter now, as Damon held the egg, which, in his hands looked to be hummingbird size.

Slowly, Damon shrunk himself down to a more reasonable thirty feet tall, and as the egg grew in size, comparatively, it began to shake, as more cracks began to appear on its thickened surface.

After an hour of silence, of nothing but watching the creature exiting from its shell, and as it finished, what they were met with shocked them, but Lorelai gasped, utterly shocked at the hatchling before her.

What was it?
