While Chihiro fixated her attention, she felt an unpleasant sensation beneath her feet... and then straight through to her socks.

Little surprise she hadn't noticed either the puddle or the telltale wet floor sign before walking into the bathroom, given her predicament... but now that she realized she was standing squarely in the middle of the damp liquid all over the tiled floor beneath the inoperable sink, both the obstacles had become very apparent.

Her light slip-on footwear hadn't just become damp. Chihiro's shoes AND socks were soaked all the way through to her feet, and given that she had nothing on her legs but them, it was all the more apparent.
