She Wants His Device

When the door shut, Kevin flinched. He looked as if he had suddenly been locked in his small, untidy office with a monster. Apparently, he wasn't used to working so closely with female co-workers.

Emily stood directly in front of him, glanced up and gave him an encouraging wink. “A big man like you isn't afraid of a small, weak woman, is he?”

He nodded, but didn't seem particularly convincing. To take his mind off things, she switched to a topic she thought he would feel more comfortable with.

“What's all this stuff here? It looks very technical and complicated.”

Kevin breathed a sigh of relief. When it came to computers and electronics, he felt back on solid ground. His eyes almost lit up as he pointed to the workbench and poked at various components with his finger.

“That's a graphics card,” he explained, holding up an inconspicuous component as if he were showing her a crown jewel. “And that's a processor, which is basically the heart of every PC. And here's the circuit board, that's where you put it in.”

Emily leaned closer and pretended to look at it closely, although her gaze went deeper and rested on his personal hardware.

“Hmm. Very interesting. And probably expensive. You must be extremely trustworthy if they give you responsibility for such important things,” she tilted her head and smiled charmingly at him, “but you know what else I see?”

“What?” He swallowed and took a step back, bumping his backside against the table, causing the parts on it to wobble menacingly.

“A man who likes to take things apart... and then put them somewhere.”

Her voice rose half a tone. Anyone else would have realized that she was teasing him and wanted him to take the initiative. But the computer nerd couldn't decipher the analog signals she was sending. Kevin stared at her, pondering. He had noticed her change in tone, but couldn't interpret it. “Uh... yes. That's... what I like to do best.”

She moved even closer and, as if by accident, brushed the front of his pants in the cramped space. “I'd love to see that.”

Kevin's mouth went dry.

She stepped up to his desk and ran her hand tenderly over the back of his chair. Then she leaned forward and let her skirt slide up high.

“You know,” she added, “maybe you'll find something else here you can plug a device into.”

Her grin made it clear that she wasn't talking about a USB stick.
