Tell Mickey about the pens?
Seduce him
You had to stop yourself from laughing at your friend's lack of subtleness, not even trying to hide the looks towards the gorgeous woman sitting next to him. Mickey liked to check out women at the bar, never actually flirting with them. He knew he had no chance, which is why he spent every Monday and Thursday with some hooker. For him it was simple, look at the goods but don't touch. And every now and then, if he felt bold enough and drunk enough, he would go harass some poor woman. You wished that would be one of these days, it would make things easier. Unfortunately though it seemed that you would have to make the first move.
"Date bailed on you?" You ask, refering to his previous mumbling, turning in your sit to face the ratty man. Mickey seemed astonished for a second. The last thing he expected was for a woman like this to converse with him, but he wasn't one to let an opportunity like this pass.
"Uh, oh no." He replies in his gravely voice, turning to face you with drink in hand. "I'm supposed to meet a- uh, a business partner 'round here. But it seems he's gonna bail on me. A shame really."
He explains. You half expected him to come up with some elaborate lie, but sometimes simple is best. Besides, if he told a girl he was here for a date she might not want to intervene, and Mickey wouldn't want that.
You chuckle, brushing a golden lock of hair behind your ear. "That's good, I was worried you might be taken."
Mickey looked stunted. Why would a woman so far out of his league hit on him? You didn't leave him much time to think.
"What kind of business?" You push, acting intrigued. You took a sip of your cocktail. Mickey was the furtherst thing from a presentable businessman, but he would sure as hell act like one if it would get him laid.
The short man adjusted in his sit, trying to appear more straight up in his pose. You couldn't help but be amused, barely managing to channel your need to laugh into a smile. You watched in glee as Mickey started his renouned conman fake monolog.
"A client of mine. Well, more of a partner, really." Mickey explained in confidence. "I run a travel agency, Flying Carpet Trips, you might have heard of it?"
You shake your head, amused at his take on the pre-prepared speech. It was one of your many in your catalog, and Flying Carpet was a code word you used to get the other to get in on the action. You were surprised he actually went with this con, since in the original version he would actually come out humiliated.
It was quite a fun one really, and required a wealthy benefactor as a target, which is why you didn't use it open. Mickey would show up to some posh bar in a suit and talk up the guests, explaining to one how he is a travel agent. Once one of the more presentable patrons starts warming up, Mickey will explain how he actually is looking for a new partner after his old one bailed on him. The benefactor would get interested, when suddenly you step in and puts Mickey in his spot. You question his narrative, poke holes in it. Explain how you're a lawyer in the travel business, and how you've never heard of the "Flying Carpet" agency. Mickey will act flustered, and it is at this point that you finally expose him to the target as a scammer, and he scrams. And, blamo!, you have the target's trust and can use it in whatever way you desire. You loved this one, and it really amused you it was the narrative Mickey chose for his attempts at flirting.
It's actually a pretty difficult scam to run, which is why you only actually ran it successfully twice, but both were big scores. First time around the guy gave you a few Benjamins as a sign of gratitude for saving him his money, but the second time around was more interesting. Since you ran it when out on the other side of the state you allowed yourself much more freedom. You actually kept contact with the guy, and convinced him you were a real freelance corporate lawyer. You met with him several times for "unofficial counciling", explaining you want to get to know the company before you knew if you wanted to get permanently involved with it. What was best about this run is that since you already came to him as a potential freelancer, you could just tell him you didn't want the job and walk away with the money. To this day the guy has no idea you weren't an actual lawyer, and you got out of it with a few easy Gs.
You smiled and nodded as Mickey rumbled on about his supposed business, enjoying the show. You made sure to give plenty of signs you were interested, from biting your lip and nabbing at the tip of your finger to subtly look him up and down, and even some more innocent stuff like reciprocating conversation and pretending to be interested in his stories. He was a good lier, you had to give him that, but not nearly as good as you. Yet all this playing around was getting tiring, and you wanted to get to the point.
"You know, my hotel room is pretty close..." you say, cutting him off in the middle of another one of his stories, but its not that it even mattered to him. The moment your silky voice poured those words he completely forgot what he was even talking about, and it's unsurprising that its barely a minute later before you're already on your way there.
Before you got to the bar you made sure to get a room at the nearby Hilton. It was a bit of a walk away, but it was best for the act, and as a base for later shenanigans using the pens. Sure, it cost a fortune. But it was all out of Elaine's pocket...
