Scientific interest

The first to speak is Damon. The insect-like man has rough, scratchy voice, but somehow still has the air of an academic. “So, we have all read the logs and reports from Alicia. It seems you are here accidentally?”

Mike nods. “Yes. I was merely a technician and engineer. But our machine exploded, pulling me here.”

Liam smiles. He speaks in a soft voice. “And we collected you, or Alicia did. You are unharmed?”

“I am. Other than the implant you put in me, but that seems benign.”

Damon nods. “I apologize for that, but without it there would be no way to communicate with you.”

Mike nods. “I get it, it’s just unusual, you understand.”

Kyrie smiles. “Of course! But now, we can talk to you. I promise it’s the last thing we’ll do without your consent.”

She winks at Mike as she says that. Alicia stifles a smile. “So, with that in mind, would you let us do a thorough examination of you? Nothing invasive, you have my word.”

Liam smirks. “A more official examination than what I’m sure you’ve had already…”

Alicia blushes, and Kyrie laughs. Mike chuckles, looking around the room. “Yeah, of course. Not a lot of formality here?”

Damon sighs. “Despite my best efforts, no. As I’m sure you’re aware, my colleagues have a more than academic interest in you. However, as long as you are ok with that, I can accept it.”

Kyrie grins. “Good, because now’s the fun part. Come with me, Mike, I wanna get a good look at you!”
