Chapter 16 by Cretan_Bull14
What's for lunch?
Sandwiches and more teasing
After a few hours, the different duos started to make their way back to the cabin. Heather and Kurt had taken a full inventory of the equipment and supplies in the shed. Kurt was able to dig out two small charcoal grills and spent an hour or so cleaning them off. There wasn’t much charcoal left, so he volunteered to go to town after lunch to pick some up. When Heather opened up a cardboard box, she found an old family photo album that had been long forgotten about. She had also managed to find several sets of paddles for the canoes, but only one oar for the rowboat. The beach games were mostly intact, but a few were missing pieces. Ever the wild child, Heather paid careful attention to the generous supply of liquor that her father had thought he had successfully hidden. Anything that the group consumed would have to be replaced once the kids old enough to buy it showed up in a few days. Once they were finished, the two cousins headed back into the cabin.
“Really Gavin? You made the poor girl watch THOSE movies?” Heather kidded.
“****. She threatened to turn me into an orc if I didn’t,” the boy remarked.
“It’s true. I may just do it anyway. If he doesn’t hurry up and put the Two Towers on, that is,” Victoria warned. Heather couldn’t help but notice how comfortable the pair was with each other on the couch. She wondered when Victoria developed an interest in all of that swords-and-sorcery stuff, and then she remembered the names of the girls pets.
The brunette moved into the kitchen and began preparing lunch for everybody. About fifty pounds of cold cuts, pickles, and potato chips were soon scattered about on the table. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see that Gavin had his feet propped up on the coffee table and Victoria had hers resting on top of them. “Maybe there’s something there,” she thought to herself as she tried to open a jar of pickles that must have been sealed with a blow torch. Wanting to inspect the scene in front of her a bit, she approached the couch.
“Open,” she said as she leaned in between the two and placed the jar in Gavin’s lap. Before she could comment on the movie, he had the jar opened and back in her hands.
“Wow. Thanks Gavin. I’d be here ‘til graduation trying to open that,” Heather laughed.
“Nah, I don’t think it’d take you two years to open a pickle jar,” Zack stated as he came into the cabin. Chloe was right behind him.
Chloe paused when he heard his comment. She looked at Victoria to see what her reaction would be, but the blonde was too engrossed in watching buff guys on horseback slaying monsters.
“Zack, I’m afraid I’ve got bad news for you,” Heather stated, “We forgot to get honey mustard.”
“I’m sorry Heather, but, you’re no longer welcome here. Now pack your shit and leave,” he kidded. Heather mocked being upset by flashing him her patented puppy-dog eyes.
“Did Ashley and Brandon come back yet?” Chloe asked.
“Nope. No sign of them,” Gavin stated, “How was the water?”
“It was good. I pushed Zack into the lake,” she giggled. “He was busy paying attention to Brandon and Ashley and I just pushed him in.”
“So, Zacky, you never told me you were a voyeur,” Heather quipped, “I might just have to put a show on for you at some point.”
“I don’t know Heather. Your performance thus far has been a bit lack luster,” Zack countered.
Victoria was doing her best to ignore the verbal exchanges between Zack and Heather, but no matter how hard the girl tried, it wasn’t good enough. Chloe was able to pick up on the slightest hint of discomfort on the girl’s face.
“Well, I’m gonna go change, I’ll be back in a few,” the redheaded girl announced. Zack headed to his room not long after.
As soon as Zack stepped into the room he was sharing with Heather, he could tell something was different. He scanned the room carefully, looking to see if he could figure it out. Every fixture, carpet fiber, and bed sheet was inspected. After what seemed like an hour, but was probably only two minutes, he figured it out.
Stepping to the mirror, still clad in yesterday morning’s underwear, Zack spied a small slip of yellow paper clipped to his boxers.
“Mine’s prettier!” was scrawled out in Heather’s near-perfect cursive handwriting. Still refusing to be outdone by the girl, Zack grabbed a pen and added his own thoughts to the slip of paper. After he finished writing, in what he intended to be his worst legible penmanship, he carefully clipped the note to her thong. He made sure to not damage the fabric in any way, as the idea of seeing her in the garment might be in his near future.
While he changed, he could hear Heather’s distinguished cat-call, He naturally assumed that Brandon and Ashley were back and that it was time to eat. Had he been a fly on the wall in the living/dining space, he would have been right. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to pick on someone other than Heather, he quickly changed into cargo shorts and polo shirt and headed back out.
Who goes where after the meal?
