Chapter 40

...?
Same couple, different bed... and a Halloween dream
In the dull, comforting gloom of our room, Grace and I were panting and breathless.
“It’s so crazy how different it is.”
“Better?”
“Not better, just… different. Although I could be more in the mood for one than the other depending on the day.”
“Wow, you really are bi-sexual Grace.”
We were lying in our own bed. We’d thoroughly abused Jenny’s form last night, trying all sorts of positions while I moaned in her voice. When she’d first seen Grace, she really did think she was cute; plus Jenny is bi-sexual as well, so she really would be happy knowing she’d gotten with the hot quiet girl in her class.
Although, how she’d feel knowing that girl’s boyfriend had been wearing her like a suit and stealing her identity for his own pleasure, that’s another matter…
In the morning I’d reluctantly left her skin. I’d felt that same wretched sense of loss, the unfair fall from the weird bliss I became so thoroughly wrapped in when I wore a woman. At least it seemed the physical effects were as minor as they could be: My skinwalker side was very pleased at having spent the day in Grace and the night in Jenny.
Now we were snuggled together under the covers of my room, a little sweaty from sex. It was a strange novelty, having sex as a man after having it all last night as a woman. It seemed like the variety from mixing it up just made the good parts all the more noticeable.
Although… I could stay in a girl’s skin all the time, and just bring my dick out whenever I wanted to experience the guy’s side of sex. Wouldn’t that be the best of both worlds? Never having to leave the gorgeous vessel of whichever girl I chose, and still getting to enjoy that masculine pleasure from having a penis…
I bit my lip as memories of how I’d spent last night rushed back, vivid pictures of scissoring Grace and the electric ecstasy rocketing around my body as she’d eaten me to climax later.
Jenny is a really cool girl… could I maybe…?
My thoughts were cut short by a mumble from Grace.
“Hmmm?”
“Were you listening?”
“Sorry, lost in thought.”
“I said, is that right?”
“Is what?”
She pointed at one of those calendars on my wall, the type where every evening you tore off the day that’d passed to reveal the next one. I’d originally bought it hoping it would inspire some sort of feeling of “Memento Mori” in me, and make me recognize the passing of time and be encouraged to actually do something productive with my days.
Although… I suppose with the way my life’s been ever since I became a skinwalker, I can’t say I haven’t been living each day to its fullest.
“The date.”
I glanced up. It said, proudly and utterly incorrectly, “October 25th.”
“Ahh, no. I guess we’ve just been spending so much time in your room I haven’t had the chance to change it.”
I untangled myself from my girlfriend as I walked towards the calendar, shivering ever so slightly at being removed from her embrace. I took my momentary frustrations out on the calendar, tearing each day away with the merciless abandon of a hungry man tearing apart the paper wrapper on a Big Mac.
“All fixed.”
I bounded back under the covers, happy to be safe from the chill within.
“October 30th…”
“Hmmm?”
Grace had sounded all too contemplative as she’d said it, before she turned to me with some sort of burning expectation, an agitation informing her body language.
“A-Alex…”
I raised my eyebrow. It wasn’t rare to see her fired up, as such. Nerves would have her in a tizzy relatively often. What was a little more unusual though, was seeing her emotions so flared up by what appeared to be excitement, rather than anxiety.
“… do you like Halloween?”
I did. I really, really did. Halloween had always been my favorite holiday, since I was no age at all. Of course, Christmas had the most “magic”, and as the biggest holiday in Western society it typically soaked up the most attention. But there was something about Halloween, some primordial appeal. If Christmas invited you to think about the people around you, Halloween was almost more personal, inviting you to think about yourself.
Of course, for many it wasn’t nearly so deep. It was just a day to wear a silly or slutty costume and get drunk, a fun holiday in a calendar with other fun holidays. But for those who could find a deeper appeal in the holiday, Halloween represented the opportunity to explore different sides of yourself, by becoming someone or something else entirely. For one magical night of the year, you could be whatever you wanted, with no consequences.
“I love it!”
I started rambling a little, my own excitement racing up to the same heights Grace’s was on. I gushed about my past costumes, lamenting how little my small town had seemed to do to mark the occasion while still talking about the costumes I’d loved wearing.
Actually… thinking about it, a big part of why I’d wanted to come to university in this city is because it always goes crazy at Halloween.
It was true. Perhaps recognizing that larger, grander cities had already allocated massive budgets to their own Christmas festivities, and knowing that it could never compete, the city I lived in now had instead chosen to make Halloween it’s major calendar landmark. And truthfully… it had been a major success. From the glass covered high-rises of the modern finance districts to the quaint charm of the old town, the entire city really came out for Halloween, and there was a million things to do.
“I… I love it too!”
Grace’s quiet voice seemed to quiver a little with barely repressed excitement as she corroborated my enthusiasm, before launching into her own thoughts on the holiday.
“Did you know Halloween was originally an ancient Irish festival called Samhain? It was the crossing point dividing the Celtic old year from the new one, and more than just a delineation of time they believed it was the night when the veil between this world and the supernatural one was at it’s thinnest.
And when that veil was so thin, creatures, demons and spirits would all rise and wander the earth, unimpeded… that’s why costumes are worn! The people then believed that if you dressed up as a demon, or a monster, or a spirit, when you saw some real supernatural creature they would leave you alone, mistaking you for one of their own!”
It's so cute when she rambles about the stuff she’s passionate about… and also really interesting actually…
A disquieting thought occurred to me for a moment. If skinwalkers were real, what else might be? I wondered if the Celts had been right, and perhaps other kinds of supernatural forces might be wandering the earth tomorrow night…
“That’s fascinating, Grace.”
I smiled as I nodded along, before she seemed to grow pensive.
“It’s just… I’ve never actually done anything for Halloween.”
“Wait, really??”
“N-no… I… I was always too shy, and it’s such a loud, colorful holiday. You need to be at least a little confident for it…”
“I’m surprised… I thought Halloween was the one day a year that’s actually perfect for shy people. I mean, you can literally be a different person that day, or you can wear a full body disguise so no-one knows it’s you. You can do whatever you want!”
I smiled as I spoke aloud the merits of the holiday I’d been considering earlier, as Grace had a look tinged with a certain pleading quality.
So… she’s never actually done anything for Halloween…
“Hey, Grace. I’ll tell you what. You clearly know a lot about Halloween, and it really looks like you want to do something for it this year, so… let’s do it together! This city really goes crazy for Halloween, and there’s always loads of cool stuff to do. Plenty of massive costume stores have even popped up about the place too, so I have a feeling we’d be able to get any kind of outfit you want. I bet you’d look really cute in a lot of them…”
Grace blushed as she snuggled into me, the feeling of her warm breath tickling down my chest providing the little hint of intimacy that made me gush with affection.
“You really think I would?”
“Yeah, of course! It’s crazy to me how much you lack confidence, you’re absolutely gorgeous. Plus, I guess I’ve been so caught up in everything we’ve been doing together that I forgot to get a costume too. Maybe we could match?”
Grace seemed to like the idea, looking up at me with a smile. Although… it did seem like she had something else she wanted to suggest. Familiar nerves began to inform her body language, and while they were usually obvious to everyone, I in particular could spot them a mile away.
“A-actually, about that… there was something I was wondering…”
“Hmm, go on. I’m listening.”
“Well…”
She seemed to pause and savor her next words, like she wasn’t quite sure how to put them.
“… I was thinking, you know, with your powers, ehmmm… I was wondering if a normal person can wear a skinsuit too!”
Those last words tumbled out in a big rush, nerves and equal parts excitement driving them out. I raised my eyebrows, surprised.
Use my powers on Halloween? I hadn’t been expecting that… although, now that she mentions it… isn’t it a perfect idea??
“Grace… that’s, that’s really a perfect idea! I’m amazed I didn’t think of it. Halloween is a time to be whoever you want, but with my abilities, that literally could be anyone. It’s so… devious and kinky. And very fun too. You’re becoming really mischievous, you know?”
She giggled just a little, seeming shy at the praise.
“I’m not sure if a normal person can wear a suit, but it’s easy enough to find out. With my memory ability, I’m sure we can see without too much trouble. Me and my girlfriend, literally wearing other people on Halloween, wearing crazy costumes on one-night bodies…”
My boner pulsed under the sheets. Feeling Grace snuggle into me had been stimulating enough, just like hearing her say she wanted to dress up this year. But the idea of my sweet, shy girlfriend wearing another person, getting into the hot, wet tightness of their suit and walking around as them, now that had me rock hard.
“I’m glad you like the idea, I’ve just… I’ve seen you wearing me from the memories you leave, and it seems so exciting. I guess I just wondered ‘how does it feel?’ Being someone so totally different. And Halloween is already such a wild, magical night. And you know, with Samhain… maybe ordinary people are right to be a little spooked of monsters. If a skinwalker were to take them as a human disguise, wouldn’t it be thematically appropriate? Eheheh… well, anyway. I was really nervous to suggest it…”
“You should know me better by now, Grace. These powers are still pretty dubious, but I can’t deny how much fun I’ve been having with them. I guess now the only question is…
… Who are we going to wear?”
