Ruby gets pretty mad, helps Jaune a bit.

Once everyone had arrived for combat classes, Glynda explained what they would be doing for this particular class. She finished the explanation with, "We will be having a few bouts per day, and selecting random opponents. Your assignments will entail analyzing the fights and helping provide those who engage in combat constructive criticism, while also taking what you learn to heart for yourselves." With that, the random numbers displayed the first two combatants. Jaune Arc vs. Cardin Winchester.

They watched what was less a fight, and more a one sided beatdown. Jaune tried his best, but was getting his ass kicked. And what was worse, Cardin was making it clear that he was toying with Jaune. And Jaune was struggling just to defend himself, and looked a little scared of Cardin. If Cardin was just fighting and winning against Jaune, it wouldn't have bothered Ruby. But Carson was outright bullying Jaune.

Deciding to embarrass Cardin a bit, Ruby leaned over to Yang, and said, "Yang, I wish that Jaune was good enough to at least land a good, embarrassing hit on that jerk, so he could be a bit more impressive to the girl's on his team later... Make sure Jaune doesn't notice." She didn't want to make Jaune too much stronger, might hurt his pride, but a small, subtle boost to aid his confidence a bit? That need only be their little secret.

Yang nodded and snapped her fingers, just as Cardin performed an unnecessary spin to land the final blow, just for style points... Only to yelp as Jaune suddenly surged forward and swung his sword, striking Cardin... Right in the ass.

Cardin hit the ground, grunting in annoyance, and getting up, now pissed. Jaune tried to follow up, but Cardin ducked, and clobbered Jaune upside the head with his mace, putting Jaune's Aura in the red and causing Glynda to call the match. Cardin smirked, and tried to act like his embarrassment never happened. "Flawless victory," he smirked.

"Actually, we got evidence to the contrary on camera," Goodwitch reminded him, clearly disapproving of his conduct. "You fooled around too much."

"And it hit him in the ass! Literally!" Yang cackled gleefully, and most of the class laughed with her. Cardin went absolutely red in rage and humiliation as even Jaune managed to have the balls to let out a chuckle. Cardin might have won the fight, but his dignity has taken more damage than Jaune's during the whole affair. He snarled as they returned to their seats, mentally swearing **** on the blonde.

The next match was selected, and it was Ruby vs. Pyrrha. "Ouch, nice knowing you," Weiss teased Ruby got up.
