Chapter 3 by iReed iReed

Who found it first?

Ruby Rose

If Ruby is known for anything, it’s her optimism and way of seeing the world that often borders on child-like naïveté. Many would assign it as one of Ruby’s failings, although Weiss would probably say it is her irresponsibility and lack of foresight. However, the former was always the obstacle that Ruby had to overcome daily.

Returning to her dorm in Beacon, after a rather morale-draining day, Ruby sighs.

_Could no one just be happy for just a day? Why would people like Cardin mess with people for no reason? Why can’t people see eye to eye? They are going to be huntsmen and huntresse_s, Ruby thinks, upset, why are they so different than what I pictured.

Ruby knows that the world is not like a fairy tale, nor can evil be so easily defeated. Still, the silver-eyed girl always wishes for a perfect world, devoid of conflict or discord. Where everybody can help each other, be nice and enjoy their lives without worry. Where nobody picks on each other or makes fun of another’s differences.

There was nothing wrong with wanting a goal like that in mind. Unobtainable, perhaps, but does that make Ruby childish or stupid?

Ruby does not think so. She just wishes that she can bring about the peaceful Remnant that she has always envisioned.

“Oh,” Ruby says, as she spies a stray book in the centre of the room, opened onto a blank page, as though it had been unceremoniously dropped on the spine, “a notebook. Where did that come from?”

The thought that it belonged to one of the girls passes through Ruby’s mind. However, they had all left the room together and she is the first to return, so, even if it did belong to another member of her team, how would it have made it to the centre of the room, cracked open.

They hadn’t left the window open, either so someone throwing it in was not a possibility, Ruby guesses.

Picking it up, Ruby sees that it is completely empty, without even a name of its owner on it.

She just won a free book, Ruby thinks.

“Maybe I should write some stuff down,” Ruby speaks aloud, as she uses her semblance to practically fly up to her bed, grabbing a pen on the way, “I might as well, right?” she asks to nobody in particular.

Ruby is completely unaware of what power she has just picked up. She could write anything into reality or change it completely. If she is not careful with her wording, she may not get exactly what she wished for.

What does she write?

What does she Write?
