Chapter 4 by ShapedMind ShapedMind

Who reacts to Pir'Ik's presence?

Rob

Hidden in the shadows, huddled beneath a ratty blanket sat Rob, a homeless man who had chosen to make this abandoned building on the outskirts of the city his newfound home. No one would bother him here, and he could always go back to the homeless center for food whenever he chose. After all, the sleeping situation was much better here as opposed to the overcrowded, stinking housing complex of the homeless center. He'd been sleeping when he was suddenly awoken by a slight hum, a hum that wasn't there before. Rob knew what noises were regular around this building and which noises weren't. Waking up from his slumber, he trudged around the darkness, looking for the source of the noise. If it were another homeless person, Rob would have to make it known that this was his territory and his alone. It wouldn't be the first time. He'd been walking down the last hallway of the building when Pir'Ik decided to make its move. It had been following the man since he'd awoken, observing an example of the species that was its to conquer. Pir'Ik observed fear, anger, resolve, and many other emotions as it stalked its prey without a sound, its evolution not allowing for Rob to detect its presence with any of his senses. Seeing that there was nothing more to be learned from this pitiful excuse of a man, and reasoning that no one would notice his ****, Pir'Ik went up behind Rob, and just as he was about to turn around, Pir'Ik stabbed him in the chest with his infiltrator talons. Pir'Ik was massive by human standards, standing at around 9 feet tall, so its large talons quickly absorbed the essence of its victim, Rob only able to let out a gurgle as his body was ravaged and absorbed by Pir'Ik. As Pir'Ik took on Rob's form, the true Rob slowly dissolved into nothing more than a black ooze, and by the time Pir'Ik was finished, it had already taken on Rob's form, along with his memories. Now, there was only Rob, his hand dripping with ooze. Pir'Ik grimaced, as a human would, and shook off the excess ooze, adjusting to this unfamiliar form. The first time was always the strangest, but as more forms were absorbed into his being, the easier the transition would become. Rob now searched through his memories, looking for something that would aid him in the takeover. A sinister smile appeared on his face as a plan began to form in his alien/human mind.

The next step?
