Resist the panookie

Ethan decides not to have some. Although why he came to that choice he’ll never understand.

“Have some,” Ashley motions to the second spoon. “It’s good.”

Ethan declines. “I’m good. So, you bring all the boys here and tempt them with dessert?”

Swallowing a mouthful, Ashley sighs. “Technically, yes I guess.”

Ethan raises his brow. “Technically?”

“You’re the first boy I’ve brought here. Although when it comes to ladies, my track record is a bit iffy.”

“Oh…” Ethan taps the table. “I thought you wer-”

“I’ve dated mostly girls.” Ashley frowns.

“You say that like it’s a bad thing.”

“It’s… not.” She lets out a soft sigh, cupping her chin in her hand. “I’m not sure how it is for most people, but my preferences are more like 70/30 in favor of men. Women are great and all, but…” she shrugs. “I’m not kidding myself.”

“So, why don’t you date more guys then?”

“Isn't that what I’m doing right now?” Ashley smiles, sipping her coffee.

“That,” Ethan points at her. “Is an evasive answer.”

“Hm.” Ashley’s smile widens, clearly hearing something she liked. “Glad to know there's a functional brain behind that pretty face.”

“There is, and…” Ethan sips his own coffee. “Flattery won’t get you out of answering either.”

Ashley offers a head nod in surrender. “Worth a shot. Well, truth is, most of the boys my age in town get a little hung up on dating girls like me.”

“Uh-huh…” Ethan can see that. Hell, a week ago, he’d be one of them.

Sighing, Ashley keeps her thought going. “They get a little sensitive dating girls with bigger packages than them.”

Ethan sees the bait.
