Chapter 10

What's next?
Receiving your gifts
After you met with the six nobles, James stuck around to speak with you.
“I wanted to talk to you about your family crest. Most families have a reference to the rune or ability that made them powerful. Like the Chryses family, who show powerful flames on their crest. Considering your ability, this wouldn’t work so well for you.” he explained.
“The choice isn’t too important right now, since you’re a minor family. You could change your crest later if you get promotions. So for now you could choose something simple, like a weapon or an animal. Is there anything you would prefer?”
You had thought about this before, so you already had a few ideas. You wanted to keep your crest clean and simple, but you also wanted it to be a reference to your beginnings.
“I was thinking about making It a small gold tree with a blue background.” The tree was a reminder of the one you woke up under when you first came to Velsia.
Thinking for a moment more, you decided you wanted to add a reference to the guardian that brought you here.
“Also, I want a black cat sitting in the branches of the tree. Try to make it hard to spot, but also make it look… wise, if possible.” You added.
James nodded, before adding.
“You should try sticking around here for today. The families will be sending your gifts over. Tomorrow we’ll deliver an identification coin with your new crest so you won’t have any hassle going through the city’s gates.”
Sighing at another day trapped inside, you agreed and said your goodbyes.

The house was very nice, but you had little to do besides train, and you didn’t want to train before Remus and the others showed up. So you were very pleased when people started appearing with your gifts.
The first gift to arrive was a beautifully crafted carriage from the Aeramiel family. It was a large blue and silver rectangle shape, with intricate designs carved into its sides. Inside was somehow larger than the outside and fully furnished. There were big comfortable seats with windows to look out, a booth where you could eat or play games, and a decently sized bed tucked against the back wall.
While inside, you could also control the carriage via your personal menu. The entire thing was powered by magic, allowing you to set your course and speed without having to look outside. You could also control the lights and temperature inside to stay comfortable.
Next up, you received a rare S-ranked water rune from the Candael family. Not knowing its value, you asked Lexi about it. She told you that it was extremely expensive, probably even more than your carriage. You hadn’t decided whether to use it or sell it, though.
From the Teruya family, you were given a robe and a sword. The robe didn’t look like it could do much, but when you checked the stats, you learned it could protect you from all sorts of bad status effects and it also had a special function to make you invisible. The sword was also clearly magical. It was a long white blade that allowed you to channel your rune through it. The sword would then change it’s shape and properties to match your rune. It also allowed you to use your skills through it, greatly empowering them.
The Mavis family ended up stocking all of your food and drinks, along with giving you a giant pile of gold. They promised to give you another gift later on, once you had decided on your path.
Last, the Albour family gift arrived. You stood in the entry hall and were introduced to your new staff. There were 3 men, two of which were professional chefs in their 40s. While the other happened to be a butler, who was in charge of all your staff.
You also were introduced to five women around your age, who all wore black and white maid outfits. The oldest, at 24, was a pink-haired bunny girl, named Ava. She stood proud and tall, almost as tall as you in fact, as long as you didn’t count her ears. Next to her was a blue-haired cat-girl named Ruka, who was 23 years old. She stood a little shorter than Ava, but looked shy and less confident. You still found her very attractive, especially glancing at her sizable chest. The other three were all human.
The first Human was called Mia. She was the same size as Ruka, but a year younger, with black hair, dark eyes, and a milky-white complexion. Beside her were the two youngest of the group at 19. They were both short and seemed to be friends with each other. You were first introduced to Sydney, who had olive skin and long black hair. She also seemed to have the smallest breasts out of the group, but she didn’t seem to mind as she watched you with excited brown eyes. Finally, you met Hailey; she had brown hair that reached a little past her shoulders and dark brown eyes. She had a happy, healthy white face with little brown freckles and a chest slightly larger than Sydney's.
After introductions, the staff bowed to you, as Winston, the head of staff, took everyone to the second floor to discuss their roles.
In a much better mood after receiving your gifts, you went up to the library to study before heading out to train.
