Reassured in her old room

Lauren hurried into her old room, slamming the door behind her. She breathed a ragged sigh, struggling to calm down. She couldn't believe it: after everything else, her freaking stepdad was seeing her naked! A perfect finale to another awful, degrading day.

Lauren looked around her room. She hadn't been here since she moved out at 18. The room looked just how she left it though. Pictures of Paris and high end fashion models. Minimalist with no clutter, fine furniture and muted colors. Mature, refined sensibilities she was proud of.

Lauren tried to remind herself. This was who she was. Mature, refined. Sure, she'd have a few bad days. It didn't change who she was though. This was who she was. She was proper lady, smart, sophisticated and worldly. She could get back on top: after all it was where she belonged! So, despite her awful day, Lauren felt reassured. Her room was a reminder of her self image that had been so badly shaken by the previous few days.

Lauren yawned. These emotional rollercoaster days were exhausting and Lauren found she could barely keep her eyes open. So, butt naked she crawled into bed, grateful for her privacy. Within five minutes Lauren's eyelids fell and she drifted to sleep...
