Raise Hell

The snake stared me down. I could feel its eyes piercing my soul as if searching for something.

“Child, why do you weep?” The beast hissed.

I stared at the snake. I hadn’t been crying had I?

“No but your sssoul is in piecesss. You yearn for love, and yet thisss world has ssso cruelly taken it from you.”

“How do you know?” I barely managed to speak. It felt as if I was **** down tears. My voice cracked and I started to hyperventilate. I was on the verge of tears.

“How do you know?” I cried out once more.

“I sssee. The world hasss been ssso unfair. Sso terrible. You have fought for change, but nothing changesss. Doesss it?” The snake moved closer, and suddenly it was massive. The snake surrounded me, and slowly coiled itself around me.

“Yes. Maybe I should give up.” I started to cry full on now. “Maybe it would be better if I die. No one would miss me.”

“Why? Why? Why would you end yourssself? You have purpossse!” It whispered into my ear. “A gloriousss and powerful purpossse.”

I looked up at the serpent. His large head loomed over me, and its eyes. Its eyes burned like hot coals. Its tongue danced out of its mouth as if tasting the air. It moved in close to me. I couldn’t move, but I also couldn’t believe what I had just heard. I had a purpose?

“Yesss child. You have a powerful purpossse. You will be given power. A ssspecial power that will let you take **** on the world. Ssso take ****. Take hold of the world and dessstroy it. Devour every last man, woman, and child. Burn it all down. That is your purpossse. You will become my messenger. My harbinger. You will pave the road for my coming. You will be my knight. We will be as one.”

I stood in awe of the giant serpent. I cried again, only this time not from shame and anger. I cried from relief. I felt as if a large stone was lifted off my back. I know what I needed to do I knew what needed to be done.

“What power will you give me?” I yelled. “What am I to do?”

“Kneel before me and I will bessstow upon you whatever you wisssh. Ask, and it will be given.” The serpent’s voice became low, almost to a whisper, “just pledge your sssoul to me.”

“I’ll do it! I’ll do whatever it takes!” Shouting at the top of my lungs I bowed before the snake.

“Then take my power, and use it to wreak havoc on the world.”
