Rabbit Woman Making a Plan

Usagi needed a plan of attack; finding Yuri had been a gift from on high. Now she just had to work on how to get Yuri to the village without compromising security. Still, before then, she needed some alone time with Yuri to get an idea of how the plan of him breeding the whole town, but there was nowhere in this town to have a secure conversation with him. Usagi was a very security-minded individual; the lack of anywhere to have any actual privacy with someone outside of the offices of the two highest-ranking individuals in the town was mildly frustrating. She didn't want to have either in on the conversation before she had worked out an understanding with Yuri in private. She supposed she could get herself into a private meeting with the Guild Master and High Priestess, but only after she got some time alone with Yuri to get his input on all of this.

Usagi needed Yuri's personal thoughts on the subject, without opinions from outside himself weighing in, before going to everyone else on the subject. Making arrangements for Yuri, and likely his associates, to visit a hidden shinobi village would not be easy, even with them swearing magical oaths and creeds and promises to not reveal any identifying features of where and how to find the village. Usagi was out of her depth; a Chunin like her was only reasonably trusted to find and possibly bring back information regarding rituals that the whole village would pore over; finding and returning an actual male, let alone an Alpharian, would be a Jounin-level task at the very least. Usagi needed to get word back to the village, she had knowledge of how to perform a ritual to transfer some things and reports that she found, but it would take far too much time to set up than she was currently comfortable with, especially if someone in the town or between the town and village had a means of intercepting her report. Setting the ritual up to ignore interception magic and abilities would mean even more time, and she didn't quite have the materials for that.

Usagi had spent the past few days looking for possible viable substitutes, in addition to the actual materials she was missing for the ritual, but a location like this wasn't proving all that viable for what she was after. Maybe if there was an actually competent alchemist in or near the town that would be different, individuals of that practice often had means of converting materials from one substance to another, which would mean no more hunting for substitutes. But the town didn't have an alchemist, they didn't even have demand for someone of that profession. The town did receive requests from alchemists and transferred the requested items to the town in question through mundane and magical means based on confirmed urgency, but even that would take some time.

Potentially, Usagi could use the quick transfer artifacts at the guild and church, but then she would have to wipe the information regarding the village from the artifact's records and she hadn't yet learned the technique for doing so. Currently, her only option regarding the avenue would be to read the guild master into things with the clan, and Usagi was not really given authorization to do so outside of **** circumstances. Usagi hadn't even been trusted with any magic items that allow for quick reporting via verbal communication, she hadn't yet proven she could reasonably keep such an item safe from outside forces.

Assuming she did manage to get Yuri and his companions on board for getting to her village, the quickest route could still take days while the most reliable route could take weeks or even a month just to get there. Chances were it would take her that long just to convince all the appropriate individuals, and that was assuming nothing diverted attention away from her arguments. And there was always the chance some new development could come up while she was doing said argument. To make matters more complicated, Yuri had actually impregnated the guild master and high priestess, it would probably be the better part of a month before one or both of them started showing signs of said pregnancy. Arguing a case with a pregnant woman was always more tricky than when they were not pregnant. Chances were Usagi would have to wait until after one or both gave birth, and who knew how long that wait would be, gestation periods of races tended to vary wildly. Usagi's own race had quick and short pregnancies, usually lasting a month or two, three at the most. She had no idea how long wolf or equid pregnancies last, she doubted anyone outside those races had any idea how long their gestation periods were.

Usagi decided to sit down with Yuri and learn what he knows about things, he did claim to be Realm Transitioner after all, after hours of fighting herself, Usagi finally managed to sit down with Yuri for a chat. She decided to let him lead, it might reveal some insight into things. And to be honest, she really didn't know where to start with these sorts of conversations. She doubted he had much interest in discussions about gestation periods and all that. Usagi would just wait and see, she was meeting him at a dining establishment, at a private booth to cut down on unwanted attention.

After Yuri arrived the two ordered their food and the waitress, a hobgoblin with dark pink skin and a plush figure, gave Yuri a saucy wink on the way out to deliver the orders. "What was that about," inquired Usagi, she felt a little uncomfortable by how gregarious the town was with Yuri.

"Nothing to be too worried about," said Yuri, "I just gave her a good dicking last week. Between you and me, I really don't like being the one to have sex with the whole town. Where I come from, this is a common male fantasy, but for me, this is just really annoying. Thankfully, I'm not fucking someone every hour on the hour, that was basically the week before you got into town."

"What is the world you are from like?" Usagi was generally curious, and she would rather ease into the subject she wanted to discuss.

"There's no real magic, as far as I can tell, and humans are the only race on the planet. Technology has driven and influenced the development of the world, some innovations became necessities almost as soon as they were introduced. We've also learned quite a bit about the animals of our world."

"Like what?"

"Well, rabbits have a gestation period of around a month and often have litters of several offspring, any litter of rabbits can have 1 to 12 offspring with the average being around 5." Usagi blinked for a bit in surprise, her kind typically had the same rules regarding pregnancy and births, she had been one of 6 children born and had just recently reached the age of sexual maturity, but she wouldn't admit that just yet.

"So what about wolves?" She figured she could get a general idea of wolfkin birth cycles from that.

"Ideally, a little over two months," said Yuri, "but that's under the proper conditions, if the wolf is impregnated outside that window then it can be as long as 7 months to gestate and they can have litters of 2 to 7 pups but they are usually born in sets of 4 to 5. And if you're wondering about Selvina, the guild master, she's only going to be having two pups because of my apparent ability to influence birth cycles to some degree." Usagi sat back in surprise, he had seen right through what she was after, "my estimate is that the twins will be born sometime in that 7-month window, shortly after we got it on Selvina admitted to me that the twins being born within the two-month time window doesn't seem likely. If equids follow the general rule of pregnancy for equines, then the High Priestess will be with foal for around 10 months, that's almost a whole year."

"Well, considering a year usually tends to be about 14 months," said Usagi, "you're not wrong."

"That's one of many unusual discrepancies I've noticed," said Yuri, "where I come from it was decided that for the sake of universal uniformity, a year is only 12 months. Granted, most of the months have a name with some sort of significance, but the last 4 months are more like artifacts of when the calendar only had 10 months to a year, and their names prove it. October means the 8th month but it's the 10th month on the calendar and December means the 10th month but it's the 12th in the calendar. When the months were all getting something like proper names, and two new months were stuck somewhere in the middle of the calendar, nobody bothered to rename the last for months on the calendar, so now their names don't quite line up with their placement."

"That does sound annoying," said Usagi, "and in this world, different nation-states have different names for the same month, it can get excessively annoying really quick."

"I bet it's a migraine and a half during periods of time when two or more nations are in negotiations," said Yuri.

"That and more," said Usagi, "especially when they're debating over access to limited resources. Speaking of which, I have something to discuss with you and this is the most secure I've managed to get in this town in regards to meetings." The hobgoblin woman set their orders down in front of them, they both had ordered salads and fruit juice, Usagi's fell within the confines of what you would typically expect from a historically accurate shinobi diet, Yuri's had a bit more of a flourish to it. The hobgoblin nodded and reminded them of the diner's policy regarding finished dishes before leaving the two to their discussion.

"I suppose you wanted to discuss things with me in private before bringing things up to the guild," said Yuri.

"Correct," said Usagi, "so here's what I have to say on the matter..."
