Chapter 3 by lawrencexd lawrencexd

How does she start her embarrassing journey?

Problems with a Divine Pulse

Byleth sighed as the bells chimed across the monastery as the basket next to her remained empty. The evening was wrapping up and that signaled the end of her little escapade to the fishing spot. She was alone at the time and surprisingly, for most of the day, barely anyone stopped on by besides the early morning arrivals of some students doing chores or tending to the greenhouse.

She mentally kicked herself. She was attempting to save up some gold for a few weapon upgrades, so instead of snagging some valuable bait, she risked it with a regular can of worms. Unfortunately, as predicted, it would have a poor effect on the catches for the day, but she wasn't expecting it to be _this _bad.

This is the last time I get to fish for awhile too, she thought to herself. Exams were coming up for her courses and while Byleth wasn't dreading the paper-grading process or fixing class training errors, it definitely put a dent into her free time. Tomorrow would officially drain her, having to sit in and witness the test taking wrecks that were the students at Garreg Mach's Officer Academy.

She blinked as a sudden realization took her and a rare small smile graced her lips. Time was the answer! And she had the power to reverse it too!

Outside of combat, the buxom professor didn't **** the divine powers granted to her by Sothis too often; she discovered that it could leave her with headaches if overdone. There were moments where she simply didn't want to deal with things - the time where Lorenz risked engulfing the whole pavilion (without casualties) with a cooking mishap came to mind immediately, in which she reversed everything and 'accidentally' threw a bucket of water onto him - and she was eternally grateful for such a unique ability. It was incredibly useful to utilize it more than once a day, and so trial and error pushed Byleth's decisions.

Byleth closed her eyes as the divine magic pulsed throughout her being. The hours reversed themselves at her will, and in front of her, the evening sky began to brighten as the daytime became reality. Her small box of bait refilled itself magically and the few clouds dotting the otherwise clear blue sky returned to their earlier positions.

The professor glanced around the area. Just as she had intended, the day was new and everything was all fine and dandy. She now had a second shot at catching some much needed fish for cooking and game. However, despite her surroundings being the same and time acting normally, something felt off.

A slight chill hit Byleth's body and she frowned. I don't remember it being this cool in the day, she thought. Looking around once more at the unpopulated space, she took a small step forward on the dock, her figure reflected by the pond's water.

What does she (or fails to) notice?
