Tempus stood alone within the crimson glow of his command chamber as the holocron projected Princess Leia Organa's life into the air before him. Hundreds of translucent images surrounded him, each depicting a different moment drawn from the timeline. Some showed a young woman running through the forests of Alderaan beneath the watchful eyes of Bail and Breha Organa.

Others depicted a young senator standing before the Imperial Senate with the poise and confidence of someone decades older. Military briefings, diplomatic receptions, covert Rebel meetings, and desperate firefights drifted around him like ghosts, all connected by countless threads of probability that spread outward into history itself.

He watched in silence. The holocron did not merely recount events. It analyzed significance. Leia Organa's profile expanded into a web unlike any he had yet examined; adopted daughter of Bail Organa, secret daughter of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala, twin sister of Luke Skywalker.

Every title represented another point where the galaxy had quietly shifted because of her presence. The holocron highlighted each intersection in luminous crimson, tracing consequences across decades that no ordinary historian could ever perceive. Tempus found himself unexpectedly impressed.

She possessed none of her father's overwhelming strength in the Force, nor her mother's political brilliance in isolation. Instead, she combined fragments of both into something altogether more dangerous. Leia inspired loyalty without demanding it. She possessed the courage to lead from the front, yet retained the discipline to think beyond the next battle.

Leia was fiercely intelligent, remarkably adaptable, and utterly unwilling to surrender, even when every rational calculation suggested defeat. Her sharp tongue concealed genuine compassion, while her sense of duty consistently outweighed her own safety. She did not simply participate in history. She compelled others to change theirs.

The holograms accelerated. Tempus observed her standing beside Mon Mothma as strategies for the fledgling Alliance took shape. He watched her negotiate with smugglers, command soldiers, comfort refugees, and deceive Imperial officials with astonishing confidence.

Each decision appeared insignificant in isolation. Together they formed the nervous system of the Rebellion itself. Remove a fleet commander and another eventually assumed command. Remove a celebrated pilot and another ace emerged. Remove Leia Organa and the projections fractured.

Entire branches of history diverged into darkness. The Rebellion splintered into competing factions. Diplomatic alliances dissolved before they were ever forged. Han Solo drifted back toward the Outer Rim as nothing more than an aging smuggler. Luke Skywalker arrived at critical moments too late or not at all. Victories became stalemates. Stalemates became defeats.

Tempus slowly folded his arms. "Remarkable."

The holocron continued. One image expanded until it filled nearly the entire chamber. The Tantive IV. Its sleek white hull fled desperately through the void, pursued by the colossal wedge of an Imperial Star Destroyer. Rebel soldiers died buying precious seconds.

Princess Leia concealed the stolen Death Star plans inside R2-D2 before surrendering herself to Imperial capture. Publicly, she insisted the vessel remained on a diplomatic mission. Secretly, she carried not only the plans but a personal mission from Bail Organa to locate Obi-Wan Kenobi and bring him safely to Alderaan.

Tempus watched the scene repeatedly. The holocron highlighted dozens of possible points of intervention. He dismissed nearly all of them immediately. Taking Leia as a child accomplished little beyond creating unpredictable political instability. Removing her during the Galactic Civil War's later years produced wildly inconsistent outcomes.

Many of them strengthened the Empire rather than weakening it. Capturing her after the death of Palpatine accomplished almost nothing. By then, history had already adapted. But the opening moments aboard the Tantive IV... The holocron glowed brighter.

A cascade of probabilities spread before him..Leia vanished from history only moments before Darth Vader reached her. R2-D2 still escaped. The Death Star plans still reached Tatooine. But there was no holographic message. No plea for Obi-Wan Kenobi. No instruction to seek him. No desperate declaration that he was her only hope.

Without Leia, Obi-Wan remained an old hermit hidden in the Dune Sea. Luke Skywalker never encountered the Jedi Master who would awaken his destiny. The droids still wandered the desert carrying their priceless cargo, but without purpose or guidance they became little more than lost machines holding secrets no one knew to seek. The probability streams twisted.

Some timelines showed the plans falling into Imperial hands. Others showed the Death Star surviving long enough to crush organized resistance entirely. Several ended in complete Imperial victory. Tempus felt the corners of his mouth curl beneath the mask. He had expected to remove a leader. Instead, he had found the thread that stitched together the entire tapestry. The beauty of the plan lay in its subtlety.

Darth Vader would believe Leia had escaped or died in the confusion of boarding the vessel. The Empire would continue searching for a prisoner who no longer existed. The Rebels would mourn a princess who had seemingly vanished without explanation. Meanwhile, history itself would continue moving forward, oblivious to the fact that one of its essential architects had been quietly removed from the board.

Tempus reached toward the floating image. The hologram of Leia rotated slowly before him, her expression resolute even as Imperial troops closed around her. "Your greatest strength," he thought, "is that everyone believes they understand your importance." His fingers closed into a fist. The projection collapsed into a single crimson point of light.
