Chapter 26 by 3rddynasty 3rddynasty

What's next?

A Warlock is Made

Today was the day.

That was the thought that ran through the mind of Tsukune Aono, the sole Human at Yokai Academy.

Today he would receive a pact with a Patron entity while the others would train/guard his body incase someone decided to pick a fight.

As he, his master and fellow slaves made their way to the open field Misty and he had visited a week ago he remembered his master's words of warning.

'This is a pivotal moment for you Tsukune. Regardless of whether you succeed today or not I've deemed it almost time for your cousin to come here. Should you either fail to form a pact or worse fail to meet my expectations after forming one you will call her to the school and you will be shipped off to my home and be whatever they need you to be there.' Jin leaned forward his tone cold and emphasizing the gravity of the situation, 'Whether it be a stable hand, a bed **** or a sacrifice to the Gods will be up to the Clan Elder and I can tell you right now that he is far more demanding and far less merciful than I am.'

Tsukune clenched his fists in a rare fit of determination. He wouldn't fail! He couldn't! Nevermind himself but he had no intention of calling Kyoko here only to leave her to fend for herself in this place! This was his last chance and he wouldn't waste it!

It wasn't long until they reached the circle where Misty had set up a week earlier. Looking at it now the Human could feel...something different compared to the last time. The area felt more alive somehow.

"Looks like everything is all good to go." Misty chirped happily as she inspected her work, nodding in satisfaction every now and then.

"Why didn't you do this earlier this week Tiny?" Zega asked. It was a question Tsukune himself was wondering.

"Well when I leaked out his essence it caught the attention of countless possible Patrons. Waiting this week was so that those who truly wish to create a pact can have a place to gather." She explained berfore sprinkling some of her dust within the circle in intricate patterns before continuing on casually, "For the ones who just want a soul to eat or collect once they saw it was meant to build a mutually beneficial relationship they'd leave while the others would stay and see if their compatible with the would be Warlock."

Tsukune blanched at the thought of his soul being devoured while Kurumu clutched his hand tightly. Misty noticed and waved her hands before her face dismissively.

"Relax~, with this last week passing by no soul eater is going to stick around only to get fucked up by a bunch of angry semi-gods. There's way too many interested to try a stunt like that."

Both the Human and Succubus breathed a sigh of relief at that. Misty inspected her work for a few more minutes before turning to Tsukune while pulling a small jar out of her pocket.

"Alright everything is set. Now then Tsukune take off your shirt."

"What?!" Out of instinct Tsukune wrapped his arms around himself as if they'd fly off at any moment while an embarrassed blush formed across his face.

"You just want to play another prank on him!" Kurumu accused standing in front him protectively.

"Oh?" The Fairy tilted her head while her tone took on an uncharacteristic chill, "Then I guess you want him dead afterall?"

His lover bristled as her claws started to lengthen, "Is that a threat?"

The tension in the air increased as Zega took on a more predatory stance to intercept the bluenette if she attacked. Before the **** could take place a cough from Moka grabbed everyone's attention.

"Umm, why do you need his shirt off Misty?" The Vampiress asked wanting to keep the peace.

"Oh nothing too serious." The purplette spoke in that dead calm tone, "Just need to put on some wards to prevent a Patron from driving him insane, or worse possessing his body. It'd also help him, a magic illiterate, acclimate to their power so he doesn't become deformed. Nothing too serious you know?" Seeing the horrified looks on the two protesters she continued, "Why else do you think cultists do stupid shit like sacrifice infants or wind up speaking gibberish in an asylum or look like they lost their noses?"

"R-right, ah Tsukune maybe you should let her." Moka offered gently.

"*gulp* Yeah, I...I'll do that." Putting aside the embarrassment the Human took off his shirt, tie and blazer. Once topless Misty regained her usual cheer like the incident never happened. Several minutes later Tsukune had a ward on his left pectoral, his forehead and in-between his shoulder blades.

With that out of the way he made his way into the circle.

"You got this Tsukune!" Kurumu cheered.

"Good luck." Moka offered politely.

"No pressure. Just don't fuck up." Zega added.

"Once you close your eyes it'll start Tsukune. If your not done by nightfall I'll be pulling you out. Staying in there for too long can have nasty effects. Just stay calm and don't speak unless spoken to" Misty warned.

Nodding at their support the Human looked over to his master only to see him looking over to the side of the clearing with an amused smirk on his face.

"Uh master?" Tsukune called.

Jin looked back only saying, "It's all on you."

Nodding in acknowledgement Tsukune closed his eyes, Misty speaking a language he couldn't understand being the last thing he heard. When next he opened his eyes he found himself in a rocky fog covered landscape.

Looking around he began to notice various figures looking down upon him through the haze.

One with a barrel chest and arms as thick as a sequoia.

One in a dress with dragonfly wings.

One with a bony figure and flaming green eyes.

One with a bloated figure with incoherent whispers leaking from multiple mouths.

One with two horns, bat like wings and a tail.

One with feathered wings and a glow emanating off their figure.

One which looked like a giant bird.

Tsukune gulped as he remembered Misty's words the last few weeks. Remain calm. Don't do anything rash.

He could practically feel them peering into his very being. Judging him, measuring him, spotting any fears and weaknesses.

The seconds crept by like hours before one by one each entity left.

Tsukune felt his heart crumble with each turn of the back.

Was this it? Had he failed to meet his Master's expectations again?

[CAW]

In his inner turmoil he failed to notice the bird like figure behind him.

Turning around to see the creature was a gigantic raven. Its giant figure stood stoically regarding him...before lifting its foot and planting it on his chest.

Before he could even let out a gasp the avian beast gave one more cry and peirced his heart with its beak.

"Tsukune wake up!"

The next thing he knew the Human was staring up at the face of Kurumu backdropped by a sunset sky. She immediately perked up at the sight of him awakening and proceeded to shove his face into her bosom. He vaguely heard her praising him, her gratitude for him waking up and one other thing before things got hazey. Thankfully one of the others warned her about his current lack of oxygen to get her to stop.

"This is going to be a thing now isn't?" Jin voiced dryly.

"Really now Tits with the way you clung to master while Tsukune was under you'd think you would've gotten your clinginess out of your system." Zega teased with Misty looking like she was a step away from busting a gut.

"I didn't cling to him! And don't call me that dammit!"

"But you did. We all saw it." The Vampiress added in.

Looking around Tsukune noticed everyone's clothing was in some form of disarray and they all were sweating. Had they really been training all day waiting for him? It felt like he'd only been away for 15 minutes!

"Uh master? What happened to your shirt?" Tsukune asked the half naked Dark Elf. His heterochromic eyes twinkled in some form of amusement.

"Probably blew off somewhere during our activities." He shrugged indifferently. "More importantly..." Jin trailed off casting a pointed look to Tsukune's right hand.

It wasn't until now but Tsukune realized he'd been clutching something in his hand. Looking down he felt his jaw drop.

It was a jet black recurve bow with green runes peppered on to it. The string had a neon green glow to it while the material carved on the front took the form of a birds head with emeralds for eyes.

While not much of a weapons enthusiast even he could appreciate the craftsmanship.

"Wait does this mean...?" He trailed off. Misty nodded.

"Congratulations Tsukune! You're officially a Hexblade Warlock!"
