If it ain't broke...

Author Note: I was trying to decide how to go about this and until his path is chosen I wanted to keep heroine/villainess interactions to a minimum. And because I didn’t really want to arbitrarily add points to move too fast and was worried that I might actually be moving too slow. I have been using Google’s RNG to decide things for me. (If you are actually interested in how I’m handling this then go ahead and ask, I just felt the need to put this out there).

Ok, I’m halfway there and it is only lunchtime. Where can I go where there will be stronger people and I can talk a lot on my way? After checking my phone I find out that The Avenger’s League is this world’s premier hero association, and they are based in Stark Tower, in New York at least. There might be heroes or at least stronger people around there and plenty of people go there anyways to check it out. With it being about 10 blocks, it will be within walking distance and I might even level up on the way.

Whew… 10 blocks is further than I thought, or maybe I’m not as in shape as I thought. I find an open bench and take a seat to rest a little, then glance over at the Stark Tower and, damn. That thing is big. I mean I’ve seen large buildings like the Empire State and whatnot, but that thing seems like it might be at least twice the size around, and quite probably taller.

After I finish gawking for a short while I stand up to finally get level 2. I glance over and see I’m at 800XP. Just 40 people left. I start out with a cute Latina looking girl. Perhaps due to me taking a break and actually paying attention to her my nerves start acting up and I just barely squeeze out a “Hello.” ‘Thank you voice for not cracking though, she wouldn’t have been able to hear me anyways’. She pauses ‘or maybe she would have’ and turns to look at me and smiles.

“Hey, were you talking to me?” she asks.”

“Y-yeah, I’m actually surprised you heard me.”

Interacting with a Female: +10 Exp!

‘What? This girl is 10XP? I don’t recognize her, but she can’t weight more than a buck-20 so she has to be someone…’

You are interrupted from your thoughts as she responds, “Yeah, I’m pretty good at picking up voices. Did you want something?”

“Oh, uh, um.” You start ‘Remember Rule 1!’ “Sorry I have been saying hi to people and I saw you and thought you were cute and am trying to get over my social anxiety umm… Sorry” You blurt out. ‘Maybe I should re-think rule 1’

She giggles a bit with a slight darkening of her cheeks, “Thanks, and don’t worry about it there’s nothing to apologize for. I actually am going to meet up with some friends so I gotta get going, but good luck on overcoming your anxiety, I think that’s braver than most people give it credit for.” She then turns to leave with a small wave.

“Bye, thanks.” you respond as you feel a bit like smiling. ‘I guess rule 1 is there for a reason’.

Your luck in the blocks around the tower is mixed, while there was only like 2 more people that gave you 10 points you were at least able to get to level 2.

Choose a Path: Good/Evil

Finally… but what is this, choose a path? I mean I have an idea of what it means but if I don’t know what my actual powers are do I really have to decide now? Let me think about this for a second. Maybe the path changes what types of powers I get, I mean if I choose good I don’t have to be a hero, the powers might be more towards healing and helping but I could help the bad guys. I mean Super strength is a power either side can have… Maybe Evil will be powers like mind control, brainwashing, or soul shit.

Then again maybe it will change how I get XP? I guess whatever I pick now doesn’t mean I have to choose my side, though I could.
