It’s the police

“Hello? This is officer Jerry. Is Henry there?” A rough man said over the phone, as soon as Zoey picked it up.

“Err... he is out of the office right now. You’re speaking with Zoey.” Zoey explained, looking towards the front door of the building.

“Oh hey Zoey!” The officer excitedly said, which instantly reminded Zoey that Jerry was a friend of her dad’s, from their days together in high school. “How’s your dad? He doing ok since he broke his leg?”

Zoey chuckled. “Yeah, he’s fine. Just a little bit more grumpy, but all’s relatively well.”

The officer coughed, as if trying to regain formality. “Well anyways, I’ve got a public disturbance call down near the south beach. Some argument over the volleyball court. Ms. Johnson is afraid they might fight over it. Can you do me a favor and check it out? I don’t want to make Gina walk through that old pathway down to south beach, and get sand all up in her shoes. It would be a huge favor to me.”

Zoey sighed, before looking out the back door, which led to the ATVs that the lifeguards used to maneuver into their locations. “I guess I’ll take a look. I need to find out where Gary is anyhow.”

“Thanks a bunch. If I don’t get a call back that everything is good in about fifteen, I’ll send someone over. So if you could do me a favor, and tell me everything is ok, I’d be thankful.” Jerry asked, as Zoey stared forward wide-eyed. The journey to south beach’s volleyball court would take at least 13 minutes if she went full throttle down the coastline, and that was if she started immediately. She was about to protest, when Jerry spoke a quick. “Oh, someone else called something in. Gotta run. See ya!”

Just like that, Zoey had unwillingly volunteered to solve some dispute that was at the far end of the island, despite being nowhere near prepared to leave the building.
