The battle?
The siege of the North!
There had been many sieges on the majestic city in the past, but this one was harsher than ever before. There were dozens of Fire Nation ships, slowly approaching the walls made out of ice, led by Admiral Zhao. He was ruthless and determined to kill two birds in one stone - find the Avatar before Prince Zuko could do so, and take over one of the most important places in the world at the moment. They had managed to invade most cities by then, with a couple of exceptions. The North Pole was one of them, but he was convinced that he would succeed. The number of ships was already polluting the air in a way never seen before, and it caused great chaos inside of the walls.
Team Avatar had come together with Yue, clueless about what to do. They had managed to stop any previous sieges. In the past, it had been easy - but they had never seen an attack like this before. It was insane, and for a second they had lost hope. The moon was high and mighty, and Princess Yue was staring up at it. She was afraid to lose her city, but the success of Avatar Aang's mission was more important. She didn't really know why, but she started babbling about the moon and the ocean, and how those spirits kept the idea of waterbending in balance...
"The spirits!" Aang called out, explaining how he could ask the spirits for help. He got in contact with a few spirits during his journey, Momo being the clearest evidence of that, and it would be their last hope. Without wasting any time, Yue led the gang down to a beautiful little garden in the middle of the city. There was so much spiritual energy there, it was actually feeling pretty warm - causing the girls to lose a few layers right away, while Aang settled down into the grass. They were still surrounded by ice, but this place was so different. Their plan could actually work if he could manage to get in touch with the spirits...
As the Avatar got into position and quickly entered the spirit world, Prince Zuko had managed to sneak into the city by himself. He knew Admiral Zhao wanted to capture the Avatar before him to keep his banishment intact, and he couldn't let that happen. He was determined to restore his honor!
It wasn't that hard to sneak through the streets without being seen, actually. Everyone was either hiding inside or completely focused on the ships breaching through the wall. Waterbenders were stronger at night with the moon out, sure, but they were heavily outnumbered by the amount of Fire Nation soldiers pouring out of the ships and into the city, led by their Admiral. He wasn't planning on just taking over the city - he wanted to destroy the element of water.
Zuko managed to sneak his way into the garden, noticing that the Avatar was completely out of touch with this world. This was his chance, and he did an attempt to rush over to him and snatch him away. Luckily for the Avatar, his friends were on the look-out - and Katara was surrounded by plenty of water and ice to fend off the banished Fire Prince. The two of them started fighting, violently but in a weirdly sensual way. Their bodies danced around each other as they launched fire and water at each other, two polar opposites of each other. Katara tried to trap Zuko a couple of times, but the muscular man was blinded by rage and managed to overthrow her after an intense battle. She passed out, and before anyone else could react he had grabbed Aang and dragged him out of the city...
While Aang was having his own adventure in the spirit world to search for a solution, the others started looking for him. They managed to find him in the middle of a snowy tundra, fighting Zuko - well, mostly dodging his fire since the young man was still tied up. It was an impressive fight, but with the help of his friends they managed to take out Zuko this time, and yet decided to take him back to the city. Aang just couldn't let him die like that, it would make him just as bad as the Fire Nation themselves...
However, the moonlight turned into an ominous red glow. Aang knew what was happening - the spirits were in trouble. He needed to do something, and the group rushed back to the mainland for an attempt to save what he could... During their trip, Yue revealed another story about her past. When she was young, she had been very sick and was saved by the Moon Spirit. That meant the spirit was a part of her, and she knew exactly how important it was to save them!
Back at the garden, Admiral Zhao had captured one of the fish, which had caused waterbenders to be completely useless...
