Diana shivered as the rain fell in the darkness, You carefully rushed her across to the ruins of Blue-Drake Manor, shielding her from the rain with Your coat. The Manor's Foundations had already started on, the scaffolding and signs of work dotting around the broken brick walls, the rain blowing into the open Hall that was still a little stained with Blood from Valerica's last visit "You're sure that none of the Builders are gonna nose in on us?" Diana shook her head, shivering against the cold wind that You barely even feel "T-T-the company are very discreet with Their contract work," She said her voice vibrating, "And the letter, it had the Key inside?" She nodded, brandishing a Circular black key that gleamed in the low-light of Your torch. You escorted Diana through Your childhood home, looking at the drab grey of it all, noting that the Manor seemed to almost sag with grey, like a corpse, but You pressed on, through the ruined dining room and Battered kitchen's left corner, to find a large, shiny Black door, only slightly dented during the skirmish that occurred there.
Both You and Your sister looked for a moment in awe, You and Diana knew this place like the back of Your hand, visited every nook and cranny, playing in every corner of every meter of Blue-Drake Manor... except for the basement, for years and years You had wondered on what was behind this giant Black door, utterly plain and reflective, save for a tiny keyhole in the center, the key for which Your father carried with him at all times. You touched the cold steel, Reflecting on the times that Your father would disappear down here, staying locked in for days at a time, leaving only to eat "Do not ever touch this door..." He said to the both of You one night, furious that Diana had plotted to get a peek inside "Don't look at it, don't think on it, pretend as if it were never here, understand?" You and Diana looked at one another, slightly apprehensive to even look inside "I-I'm not sure about this..." Diana professed, looking a little worried, You, of course, mirrored her fear, but Your curiosity was strong, "It was one of his last wishes right, and we might find something to quell Your sickness?" She swallowed, extending the key to You.
You took it, carefully pressing it into its lock and twisting ever so carefully, You heard the Door creek, the sounds of bolts, latches and mechanisms turning, The door suddenly unsealed, becoming slightly loose so that You could push it in and out of the way, peering down into the pitch black, Diana seemed to steel herself a little "Okay... let's get this done." You nodded, watching her walk-in effortlessly, stepping past the fresh hold and waiting for You to follow.
You, however... couldn't, the almost magnetic **** of the threshold preventing You from stepping through "What's wrong?" She asked You frowned, "You have to invite me in." Diana rolled her eyes "again, but this is your own home?" You chuckled grimly, "It was when I was human, I still need to be invited." She sighed sadly "Come on in."
You and Diana made Your way down the long dark stairway, Shining the torch so that Your sister could see in the pitch black, after traversing the stairs for nearly 5-6 minutes, You emerged into a large chamber, the darkness was unsettled by Your torchlight. it was a strange place, it was almost like a medieval dungeon filled with Lab equipment, a couple of strange-looking machines, a small but crude sleeping area, massive racks of strange jars, dark vials filled with viscous liquids, diagrams with foreign text nailed into the cobblestone walls and a large Study, fitted with an ancient-looking desk that had a large Shelf compartment, packed with old tomes and dusty scrolls, smooth rings filled the right of the desk, packed with collapsed equipment "Rose has one of those doesn't she?" Diana was right, that was in fact an alchemical station, but Your eyes were fixed on a single thing, Your Vampiric eyes penetrating the darkness to look at a large portrait.
Framed in dull gold, a dusty painting looked at You, You knew this painting, but at the same time, it was completely alien to You "What are You staring at?" She said, confused as to what You were gawking at.
Casting light on the old portrait, Your sister paused, her eyes lingering on the painting in deep thought and confusion "W-What... that..."
"Mom." You said, Your voice shrill with enigma, Diana shook her head slowly, "But that's wrong?" She said, staring at the woman with Hair so deep red that it almost looked black in its roots when It should have been silver platinum, Her face was just the same as the painting that You knew, impossibly beautiful, Her red lips arched into a subtle smile on a pale face, the beauty mark on her cheek was there, The Golden Dragon broach clipped neatly on her chest, but... Her eyes were Red as shining rubies "Why would dad have that here, was it her at a different time?" You shook Your head "Same smile, same pose... same broach" Diana shook her head, moving to step forward to enter the room "But the hair, The eyes, this is wrong why-"
As Diana's foot touched the stone floor, a Bright crimson light shone in recognition, Diana froze, watching the light shine brighter and brighter, a circle of red surrounding her foot, spiraling out like a Deer's antlers, the light grew and grew, connecting and flying through the stone until the Dark chamber was illuminated with crimson light formed into an intricate circular symbol "Ummmm." Diana said, confused and a little shocked "Inhabitant detected." A deep but feminine voice spoke, resonating everywhere "initiating DNA scan." The light flashed for a moment, the light reaching up Diana's leg, Of course she went to move but You steadied her "Wait, Don't move." She swallowed nervously as the light gently touched at her heel, The light quickly oozed back into the stone "DNA Sequence Acknowledged, Welcome Diana." Just as quickly as it had appeared, the light quickly shrunk back into itself, the darkness settling again for only a moment before a gentle orange light began to ooze from the cracks of the cobblestone walls, The two of You could see everything clearly now but Diana still looked back at You with her tired eyes "What is that how the hell does it know my name!?" You shrugged "How am I supposed to know!?" She frowned "I would have thought that You would be well versed in Weird shit!"
"Not this kind of weird shit, unfortunately, I didn't get a doctorate in this one!" The two of You looked around, Diana taking a deep breath before stepping forward and observing her surroundings, she touched the subtle luminescence of the walls "this place is..." You said still standing in the doorway apprehensive "Amazing," She said, seeming mesmerized by Your father's secret hiding space "This was beneath us this whole time, He wanted to have this?" You eyes the place suspiciously, though You couldn't really understand why, the whole place just had real bad juju "I've got a bad feeling about this," You said, but Diana was too distracted "Chip, come take a closer look at her." Diana said softly, looking up at the strange copy of the portrait that You knew.
Trying to push away the bad feeling You had, You stepped forward, this was... a mistake, unlike Your sister, when Your foot touched the stone, The Orange light quickly shifted into a deep Violet, the moment that they touched You the sickening nostalgia of sunlight struck as it sheered Your skin, Hissing You flew back into the darkness to hide from the light, eyes burning "Undead inhabitant detected, initiating countermeasure 325-B, UV light active." Diana looked around in confusion as You stifled a growl, wincing as the burn on Your arms began to regenerate "WHAT THE FUCK!?" You eventually said Diana looked around frantically "What do I do!?"
"TURN THEM OFF!" You growled monstrously, the Lights beginning to make Your blood boil "UV lights, off, turn off, UV Lights Deactivate!" She finally shouted, in a low buzz, the Violet UV light dimmed before switching back to their warm orange, "Countermeasure 325-b Deactivated, Undead Inhabitant detected, would You like to initiate non-lethal scan?" Diana nodded, staring at the walls of the room "Yes, non-lethal, don't hurt him, and Don't turn Those lights on again." You were still tucked in the darkness, frowning as Diana gestured to You "Come on, I think it's okay."
"I fucking hope so... god that fucking sucks!" You said, shaking it off before carefully placing a foot on the ground, The circle of light reappeared "Initiating DNA Scan" creeping up You light before flashing again, the voice spoke, "DNA Sequence Acknowledged, Undead component assimilated, Welcome Charles." Taking a false breath, You relaxed a little but kept Your guard up "Let's just find this trunk before the weird Room lady steaks me in the heart or something."
Standing in front of the painting, the two of You were silent, just looking it over closely while thoughts stormed through your mind, "You don't think... that maybe she's..." You shook Your head, "No, no Vampire's cannot have children, it's impossible to create life from ****, I read that a thousand times in several Vampire written books." Diana fixed You with a stern look, "Red eyes, pale skin, maybe she's an Upir, or whatever Rose is?"
"Upir." Diana nodded impatiently "Upir then, can they have children?"
"I... I don't know." You professed, the revelation hitting You "Upir are Undead like Vampires, they are better than us and can resist certain things that are otherwise lethal to us, but surely... Our mother can't have been, it's nonsense." Diana suddenly began to cough heavily, the dry hacking making her bend over as You supported "This can wait, We need to find that Trunk."
Sitting Diana down at the desk in the comfortable chair, You cast Your Vampiric around the room at lightning speed, taking in everything in sight before huffing with frustration "I can't see it, maybe it's hidden somewhere?" Diana seemed to have a lightbulb moment, looking up at the ceiling before calling out "Light-Room thing, can You hear me?"
"Yes, Diana?" _The automated voice answered immediately, "W-What are You, do You have a name?"
"This Program is an automated Alchemical Intelligence, designated codename: SOL, installed into this chamber to defend, inform, and collect information for its creator." Diana raised an eyebrow "Your creator was Roman Drake, Sol?"
"Correct, Roman Drake, AKA Black-Star created this program." You and Your sister looked at each other in confusion "Black-Star?" She shrugged, putting her head in her hands "My head is spinning..." Worriedly You looked up "Sol, Do You know where Black-Star kept his Trunk, He left it to Diana."
"Acknowledged: Item Black travel Trunk is located in hidden storage area B, Checking clearance... Charles Drake Master key active, opening Hidden storage area B." Just to Your right, in a tucked corner, the stones on the walls shifted, dust kicking up into the air as they moved away, revealing a large Black Trunk, shining in the low light, You smiled quickly grabbing the heavy drunk from the alcove and dragging it over You your sister.
Just like the door that lead-in, the beautifully crafted smooth black trunk had a Black lock on its face, Diana immediately pushed in the key which fit like a charm "Let's hope that we find something in here for You..."
Helping her unlatch the trunks bolts, You lifted up the heavy lid... this thing was filled to the brim with so much, hundreds of packed documents, ten or twenty books that looked older than them both combined, covered in weird symbols and strange titles, something large was wrapped up, tucked away into the corner and was hard to the touch, many more items filled this to the brim, but it was the contents strapped to the inside of the lid that caught Your eye, the first that caught the eyes, was a long object, wrapped in black cloth, this along with a familiar item has Your name labeled on them, You reached over, pulling the Black leatherbound journal and the long object away, You and You sister stared at Your Father's journal, something that He never parted with since Your mother's ****.
The Long object, bound in cloth had a weight to it, You were sure that You could guess what it was, heavy and long it's intricate crossguard shone black in the light, the beautifully crafted handle glinting also "Is that... a sword?" You nodded "I think so?" You both looked up to the two other items that were strapped to the Lid, each being labeled with Diana's name, the first being a strange Circular Necklace that almost seemed to glow gold and the second...
"A vial?" Diana said, carefully pulling free the small glass and reading the small note attached to its cork "Once Bitten, drink this... I'm sorry that I cannot help You with the coming oddities, Forgive me." Diana said, observing the pale White liquid inside, She uncorked it "Diana wait shouldn't we-" But before You could say another word, she had sunk the whole thing, taking a deep breath "Wow... that is, lovely." She said, grinning a little "I think that was it, I feel a little stronger, "Already?" She nodded, "I feel great!" Diana suddenly erupted, though she still looked frail and tired, her voice whipped with life, "Come on, we can explore this place later, I hope Belle is back with the Cheesecake!" She said, her voice overly gleeful as she broke into a sprint up the stairs, confused and still concerned, You chased after her "Diana, Diana wait for a second!" But she had already burst out of the door, her form dashing through the kitchen as she giggled frantically, "I feel so Great, Chip!" She cried, running out into the open, the rain falling on her head as the Thunder clouds above rumbled angrily.
"Didi, get out of the rain!" You called, but she danced childishly on the driveway, prancing around like a manic "THIS IS AWESOME, I FELL ABSOLUTELY INVINCIBLE-"
Like a hammer of god, striking from the heavens, an almost mythically gigantic Bolt of lightning struck down upon Your sister, the power of such was so incredibly powerful that it sent You flying into the house, the last thing that You saw being Your sister's body utterly engulfed by the savage blue sparks __
