Father's Wisdom

You tapped at Your thigh, listening to the gentle sound of the shower still going in the other room, Rose's naked from still there doubtless, only a short walk to were You could relive Your painful erection.

Diana was supposed to have shown up about twenty minutes ago according to her text, You found Your eyes lingering on the unsealed black envelope, You had taken out all of the details for the accountant and such, unfortunately, indisposed at the moment putting Your access to the family fortune on hold, but You had left his letter for You unread, every time that You had gone to read it, something came up... and it felt like something that required focus, You played around with the thought of reading it now, just get it over with, it couldn't have been anything that Emotional, it was Roman after all...

"Beast, You sound awfully calm?"

There may be things that You need in that Letter, Read it...

You suddenly felt compelled, the Beast was right, it was Your father's last remnants for crying out loud, what were You waiting for? Reaching down to the envelope you picked it up, slowly pulling the soft white folded letter inside, unfolding with an apprehensive look on Your face, You saw Your father's long, neat handwriting, the precise and beautiful curve of his hand making You smile a little to Yourself, "Okay... here we go." You said, beginning to read the Letter.

Charlie, If You are reading this then I'm gone, and unwanting to make You gloomy, I do not know if You will miss me, or mourn me. I have not always been a great... hell, not even a good, father, at the time of writing this You would have just left for the Academy, lord knows that You probably hate me right now, but I hope that You can see that I only did so to make You stronger.

I remember when You were born, Your mother looked so happy, even though that day would be her last with us, I had never seen her smile so brightly, You were small and frail, but I knew that You would pull through because You are my son... I think that has been in the back my mind Charlie, No matter how hard You fall, You have always persevered, picked Yourself up and kept marching, that is why I love You, son, even though all the hardships myself and Diana put You through, You never quit, not even for a minute.

My faith in You will never waver, remember that, remember that before whatever horrible memory You have of me, for I fear I am too stubborn to ever tell You in the flesh, know that when I am gone My faith in You will never waver.

Now I need You to read this part of the letter carefully, if You know what I suspect You know, or if the worst has happened and that Red-haired monster had gotten Her hands-on You or Diana, I need You to follow my instructions carefully...

Charlie paused, it must have been the tears that the first part of his letter wrenched from him, the aching in his chest... but He must have read that wrong, Roman suspected Valerica would come after You, He even implied that He knew about what You had become, "Impossible..." You said, reading keenly on.

...If You are Bitten and become... You know what, then certain events may transpire, You will not be like the rest of the Undead, because of your blood, Our blood, If my suspicions are correct and it is Valerica who bites You, then You will no doubt be Superior, but You must realize that the Curse is only one component of what You will become, and what Diana will become should Venom be introduced into Her system.

"This is insane!" You whispered, how did a Human City Mayor know all of these things, just what was Your Father involved in?

I cannot compromise My work, So I cannot go into explicit detail, but You will discover the Truth in my research, I ask that You go into the Basement and find the Black trunk in the Basement with Your sister when You find out what we are and what Your mother was... I hope that You understand why I kept these things from You both.

You jolted as the Doors to the Cave opened, You had been so absorbed that You had not been paying attention to anything else. The smell of Rain immediately flooded Your nostrils, the harsh rain hammering down outside as thunder rumbled above, Diana's figure stepped into the Cave, utterly drenched and shivering, She looked... unwell, almost feverish, even paler than usual with dark rings around her eyes, she even struggled to close the doors, You quickly rushed over to her, helping her close the doors while worriedly looking her over, she bunched herself up, shivering cold, lips dry as ash and white as bones, "Oh my god, are You okay?" You said fussing over her, Diana scoffed weakly, trying to wave You off with a quivering hand "I-I-I-I-I'm f-f-f-fine." She stammered, "Fine, You look like You're going to pass out!" You said, taking her hand which was cold as ice and helping her over to the lounge, "What is wrong?" You jolted again as Rose suddenly appeared next to You, seeing Diana's frail appearance "I don't know, she looks like she hasn't eaten days!" Rose looked her over for a moment, Diana frowning "S-S-S-S-Stop, f-f-fussing, I'm... j-just a little unwell-" she broke out into horrible dry cough, "Is it the Venom!?" You asked Rose pleadingly, she shook her head, humans with venom poisoning do not exhibit these symptoms... I will have to conduct some tests."

You covered Diana in plenty of little blankets that Rose, of course, had in her bag, she was warming up a little but the shivering hadn't stopped, You held her close to you, making her look grumpy, though she didn't make or effort to wiggle free "I'm sorry I don't have any warmth." She grumbled, "T-This isn't a big deal, I just feel a little sick." Rose walked over with a small syringe, the herbal aroma from her Alchemical setup emanating from the kitchen, "I need a little of Your blood." Diana scoffed tiredly "Never thought a Vampire would ask so nicely for my blood." Rose blinked, kneeling down to Your sister and fixing her with a serious eye, "If I need to analyze a sample, I would not like to see You dead." You and Diana looked at each other in surprise, Rose sounded almost sincere, something usually save for you alone, Diana frowned grumpily, but held out her arm reluctantly "I hate n-needles, why does it have to be a Needle."

Rose took the blood, Your sister wincing for a moment before Rose walked briskly back into the kitchen, "How long has this been going on?" You said sternly, she averted her eyed, mumbling "Three days..." You pressed Your lips together with fury "Three days!" You cried "Why didn't you tell me." Her silence gave You time to recollect... the incident, "Listen, about that, I..."

"I don't want to talk about it." You frowned as she spoke, "Didi, I drank Your blood, I saw Your memories, what You did with Dad-"

"I said I don't want to talk about it." She repeated even colder this time, You crossed Your arms, deeply annoyed, "What do You want then?" She shrugged "I want to know what is in that Trunk." You looked back at her, noticing that she was looking at Your opened letter, "You read Yours?" She nodded, looking at him with her Golden eyes "We need to find out what He was researching, how He knew about Your turning, How he knows about... whatever is happening to me." Your eyes widened, "The Venom!" You said, becoming concerned "Do you think that something changed when I bit You?" She shrugged again "I don't know what's happening, I just need to get better so I can finish with our work." You frowned sadly, seeing how much the lack of strength upset her, waiting for Rose to finish what she was doing in the kitchen.

Rose eventually came out with a very focused look on her face, mulling around with a bright orange vial, "Will that make Didi better?" Rose shook her head "it is an elixir created with Her blood as a base, it will help me better understand Her sickness." Rose looked at Diana, "I will see particularly deeply into Your memories if I drink this, delving deep into Your thoughts and experiences." Diana frowned "You're asking my permission, is that it?" Rose nodded, Diana rubbed her eyes with frustration, letting out a long sigh before nodding "Fine."

Rose downed the Vial, closing her eyes briefly as memories flooded her mind, standing with clenched fists as a war of thought waged in her mind, a couple of moments of Silenced past before You heard someone tapping in the code to enter, Belle came in a happy look on her face and a couple of grocery bags in her hand, she cheerily shook her umbrella that protected her from the rain and strode in "Oh hi guys, I brought some food and drinks over, I wasn't sure If You could eat or not master so I decided to play it save and..." Rose's eyes shot open, burning red, her face twisted monstrously as she quickly marched over to Belle who squeaked in fear as the Upir clutched at her coat "Did You buy any cheesecake!?" Everyone was silent, You would have laughed if You were unsure about Belle's safety, Belle quietly spoke "N-No?" Rose pointed to Diana with a sharp claw "You will go back and buy her Cheesecake and Strawberry... and CHICKEN SOUP, UNDERSTAND!?" Rose screamed at Belle making her turn white "I understand, I understand... Please don't kill me." Rose's fangs clenched together, eyes burning as she stared at a Frozen Belle "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?" Belle jolted, grabbing her umbrella and dashing to the door "Wait!" Rose commanded, nearly making Belle trip as she turned to look back "Get Red wine also, Merlot, nothing cheap, go!" Belle nodded, scrambling to fulfill Rose's commands.

Rose turned to You, fury in her eyes, You held up your hands in terror as she grew closer, swinging a heavy punch that collided with Your face, nearly knocking You off Your feet "Jesus Christ Rose what is wrong with You, Gah!" You said clutching Your cheek, but Rose reached down, grasping Your collar with both hands and pulling You into a deep and passionate kiss, very confused You looked at Diana who shrugged, jaw opening as Rose suddenly turned to her next, "You better not kiss me!" Diana said, but she paused, Rose had wrapped her arms around her, hugging her warmly and tenderly, Diana's face fell, she looked like she might protest for a minute... but then tears began to fall from her eyes, she began to sob, hugging Rose tightly as she buried her face into her shoulder, You stood dumbfounded, unsure as to what was happening when Rose got back to her feet.

"Apologies." Rose said to the two of them, Diana wiping tears from her eyes "The Elixir is making Your emotions resonat very strongly within me." She said rubbing her eyes and trying to collect her focus, Diana wiped her eyes, smiling a little "I could really use some Cheesecake and strawberries..." She said, sniffling, You looked to Rose "Did You figure out what was wrong exactly?"

"Yes and No. Your Venom has definitely done something to alter Your sister's Body, what however I cannot say, she is unlike any human I have ever seen." Diana looked at You, "The Trunk, Charlie, I know there are answers in there." You nodded, "I'm going." Diana scowled "We're going You mean!?" You shook Your head "You need to rest Didi."

"Dad left that Trunk for Me, the only thing He left for me, if You think I'm just going to sit here-" You cut her off with a sigh "Alright alright, come on, wrap up, I don't want You to get cold out there."
