Chapter 8 by hewhoismany hewhoismany

What does Link get up to?

Link tries to find him, but gets distracted by the sight of valuable stuff.

After using the mirror to make himself look a little more presentable, Link left Anju's home in search of the Mask Salesman. The graveyard was the first place he checked, but that was useless, there was no trace of him there. Link walked to the marketplace area, thinking that as a salesman he might have come this way, when he noticed an unlocked window, on the second story of a residential house. He stopped, unable to move his gaze from it, then found himself looking around the house. It was a nice building, and from what he could see through the first story windows the owner looked to be someone of wealth and taste. A quick look around him showed that there was no one else on the street in this early morning, and without thinking Link pulled out his hookshot and rocketed up the hang on the wall outside the unlocked window, undid the latch, and climbed inside. This was a study, or a storeroom, and it was full of personal belongings...as well as a rupee pouch sitting on a desk. Link pocketed the money absently, then his eyes hit upon something worth much, much more: a vase. Not just any vase, somehow Link knew it was a centuries old Goron vase that was worth thousands of rupees to the right collector. Link carefully grabbed it, exited the house through the window, and stashed his loot in the graveyard, in Dampe's house. It was only then that it actually hit Link: he had just robbed someone. He had broken into their home, stolen their money, and burgled a prized possession. Wasn't he supposed to be a hero? But a different part of Link didn't seem to care. If the fool wasn't willing to guard his prized treasures well enough, then they obviously aren't worth that much to him.

What happens next?
