Forest

Bethan took a deep breath as she stepped away from the car and began to walk toward the forest. A chill ran through her body as she heard the distinct sound of her heels clicking against the tarmacked road. After a few paces, she slipped the phone from her pocket and hurriedly swished up the control screen before tapping on the torch icon.

The tiny beam of light managed to illuminate a small pathway through the dense forest that loomed menacingly above her. Bethan's eyes darted down toward the home screen for a split second and she sighed disappointedly at the absence of signal. Wanting to get the evening over with she slowly put one foot in front of the other and strode into the foreboding forest.

Bethan's senses seemed to heighten as she walked nervously through the forest. In the distance, the owl's hooted loudly and she swore something was watching her from the dense foliage. As she moved cautiously forward Bethan swore something moved in her peripheral vision and she came to a sudden halt. Her heart hammered against her chest as she slowly spun around.

On seeing nothing she carried on walking down the well-trodden path. Her ear's pricked up at the slightest sound. Bethan strained her eyes as she saw an illustrious Mansion lingering on the edge of the forest, which she was rapidly approaching. Bethan hoped that someone was there and they had a way of calling for help to fix the car.

Bethan stood at the edge of the forest for a few idle moments as she wondered whether she should head back to the car or head toward the mansion...
