New uncommon item acquired
Bottle of Guardian Extract (3 doses)
As the barrier began to shatter around him, John ignored the item that had just been added to his inventory; he wasn’t in the mood to Observe it right now. Soon enough, the barrier had fully shattered apart and disappeared. He was now back in the real world. He looked down at the stone he still held in his left hand. It was covered in green sap-like goo that slowly vaporized into steam. John felt self disgust well up inside of himself and chucked the stone as far as he could to try to make the awful feeling go away.
He looked at the woods around him and at the star filled sky above him. A breeze of ice cold wind blew around John, as it seemed to fill his mind with wordless accusations. He squeezed his jacket around himself; only now did his body begin to realize how cold he actually felt. John checked his phone and considered calling a Bluber. He stared at the app for a few moments, but ultimately decided that, despite the cold, he’d rather walk back home. John needed the time to think things through and mull over today, and a walk would probably help him clear his head.
As John walked through the woods to the other side of the park, he began to contemplate everything that had happened to him since he had woken up with powers.
Man, it already feels like it’s been years since I woke up today. I wonder… if I wake up tomorrow and all of today was just a wild dream, how would I feel about that? John asked himself as he reached the end of the park and went across the street. He pinched himself on the arm to check, and he certainly did feel the pain. That’s when his mind moved on to other subjects.
Is it really right for me to create living creatures for the sake of just killing them so I can grow in power? At least with the imp that had attacked me, it was an actual creature that was real and I only killed it in self defence, John thought to himself as he felt his hands begin to shake. He quickly moved on so as to prevent another panic attack like the one at lunch.
Alright, let’s say that also applies to the Rose Guardians, since they technically also attacked me first, and they were able to fight back and potentially kill me. The baby ones, however, couldn’t fight back and were just minding their own business. If I had left the barrier without destroying it, would they have been able to grow up and live their own lives? So what gave me the right to end that potential life they could have lived? John continued to contemplate, his mind confused as to what would be considered right. That was when a way to find out popped into his head. He quickly took out the piece of paper that had Blair’s phone number and began to text her.
’Hey Blair, are you still awake? There’s something I need to talk to you about,’ John pressed send and only had to wait a few seconds for Blair to respond.
’Yeah, I’m awake, what doun you need to talk about? And if it’s something really important, then you should probably call me rather than text me.’
’do’
As soon as John read her reply, he dialed her number and called her. “Hi Blair, hope you weren’t busy doing anything important when I texted you,” John said over the phone as he began to recognise the houses around him as his neighborhood and made his way towards his home.
“Nah, I wasn’t doing anything, just kinda sitting around bored,” she said to John. However, to John she seemed to sound out of breath. As he began to wonder what she was actually doing, he dismissed the thought and stuck to the actual reason why he had called.
“On my way home I opened a Barrier and used it to grind some monsters, but now I’m not sure if it’s right for me to do that morally, especially since some of them were just babies that couldn’t fight back,” he said as his voice cracked at the last part. He heard Blair take a deep breath and sigh before she answered.
“John, Imma be straight with you for a sec, the monsters we create aren’t real. They are just loose magic that’s given shape to help people train, that’s all, nothing more and nothing less. Those babies you said were there too, same thing applies. Without you they wouldn’t have ever actually existed in the first place, so if you feel bad for having them fulfill the purpose you made them for, don’t, simple as that. If you’re still not convinced, go sleep on it and we’ll talk about it some more tomorrow,” Blair said to him in a stern tone, her previously nonchalant attitude nowhere to be found. John stopped in front of his house as she finished that last sentence, staring at the door as he absorbed her words.
“Yeah… I guess what you’re saying does make sense. I don’t know, today’s been a long day, so I’m probably not thinking as clearly as I usually do. Sorry, I’ll take your advice and talk to you after I get some sleep. Is it alright if we meet back up at the Palace of History tomorrow?"
“Yeah, sounds like a plan. Good night, John,” and with that John wished her a good night as well and hung up, but before he unlocked the front door, he remembered how he had to write down the item he had gotten for Wentworth.
I’ll make sure to do it when I get to my room, John thought to himself as he unlocked the door and let himself in.
“Hey Mom, I’m home,” John said out loud but quiet enough so that, if his mom was asleep, he wouldn’t wake her up. He waited a moment, but there was no response.
She must’ve already gone to bed, it is fairly late after all, John thought to himself as he quietly closed the door behind himself, locked it, and tiptoed up the stairs and to his bedroom. He went into his room and turned on the light as he opened his inventory and took out the Bottle of Guardian Extract, took off his ring, and placed them both onto his desk. He took out a small note book and wrote the ring’s name, enchantment, and description into it. He cast Observe on the bottle to do the same thing.
Bottle of Guardian Extract
Creator: Gaia
Bottle in the shape of a perfume spray.
When sprayed, it increases the wearer’s Charisma by 25% per dose. Everyone within 10 meters of the wearer and of opposite gender will have their Libido increased by 20% per dose. Attraction of those affected is only towards the wearer. Each dose lasts 12 hours.
John scribbled down the bottle’s information underneath the ring’s. He then put the notebook in his inventory for safekeeping until he could give it to Wentworth. John did the same with the bottle and the ring. With that now done, he stretched his arms and let out a tired yawn. Today had felt as long as it had been crazy, and now he was just exhausted. He went over to his bed, flopped onto it, and knew instantly from its coziness that no **** on earth would be able to make him get up right now.
Soon enough, he drifted off into the land of dreams and was deep asleep.
